After much poking and prodding of toolboxes, I have bought one. Let me share what I've learnt:

1. Most are made in the same Keter factory with the same molds, in different colours and either PP or HDPE. Prices however vary greatly!

1. Wheeled toolboxes don't work on a farm (too small wheels that sink in and/or clog up with mud).

1. Almost all leak after 5 minutes in the rain through holes in the top where handle or top compartment hinges are penetrating through the mold. 🌧

1. Black toolboxes may look nice, but colourful ones are easier to spot!

1. Stackable systems are overrated.

1. Cantilevered seems cool until it jams. KISS!

1. Wide handles on the other hand are awesome.

1. That metal/plastic hybrid one below even leaks from the bottom.

Old laptop memory swap with new, and already my favorite tools.

I'm trying to sell an old wife's Lenovo 17" laptop. Recently, I upgraded its RAM from 8 GB to 32 GB. It doesn't speed things up, so now my wife has a new shiny Pro, which is even more powerful than mine. And I didn't find any good reason to use the laptop for anything. So, downgrading it back to 8 GB of RAM, installing in OEM mode, and into the box of things I'm currently selling.

I also need a new just for specialty tools, now that I am car-free. Maybe I can repurpose one of my old Rubbermaid boxes.

The oldest one of those I have is full of miscellaneous stuff that I refuse to get rid of just out of nostalgia, like it has the hardware for the d8 Magazine exhibit booth from 1995.

I used to spend time updating individual Toolbox instances with apt or dnf. My new method is to nuke ALL OF THEM and the images that made them and start from scratch with new images on a fairly regular basis.

Still wondering if I shouldn't just layer Distrobox and make my life (comparatively) easier.

I've been using on my for about a year. I think it would be a great distro for a work laptop!

It's nice to know if there is an update problem, you can just boot back to the previous update, but I haven't ever needed to do that.

Most apps you need are available on . If you need to set up a dev environment, and work well!

On top of that, the and communities are capable and friendly, so help is available.
