Really pleased to be included in Newcity’s 2025 Lit 50 list recognizing people shaping Chicago’s literary world.
I talked about projects I love - One Book, One Chicago, support for emerging writers, and adult AI literacy programs.
Featured alongside CPL Commissioner Chris Brown. I’m proud that the public library’s work - especially programming - continues to get citywide attention.

Public libraries are treasures

* A #zine I made on #Libraries & #Technology where I sounded off abt the #IndieWeb & #Decentralized #SocialMedia.
My final essays:
* " #PublicLibraries & Their ‘Innocuous’ Physical Spaces." (My current obsession for #Severance slipped in (I need a #Foucauldian analysis of Severance so bad omg)).
* #Android 101 for Older Adults" & honestly I'm still trying to figure out what libguides are (I think I could do it better than springshare??)

The latest newsletter is out from For The People, a group working to strengthen and defend public libraries. This issue has an excellent report on the group's project to collect governance related data about every U.S. public library system, data that surprisingly aren't collected by any national library organization. #LibraryDefenders #PublicLibraries https://librariesforthepeople.substack.com/p/for-the-people-newsletter-vol-xxvii?r=iw9zm&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&triedRedirect=true

One thing I’ve been trying to do more lately is go to the library every week. I have couple of books checked out already, so today I got some books for the kid. We’re gonna start reading the Bad Guys series. We did a trial run with a digital version and he loved it! (Yes I’m the annoying parent who makes all the voices while reading books). This is the one thing I truly want to teach my kiddo - love of reading #books #PublicLibraries
Libraries Are Priceless — And They Need Our Support https://otherwords.org/libraries-are-priceless-and-they-need-our-support/
Beyond carrying books and DVDs, libraries provide essential programs and resources to the people they serve. While every library is unique, offerings include: helping students with homework or research, reading and literacy programming for children of all ages, as well as English language, GED, and citizenship classes.
