Our current electoral system FPTP/SMP (First Past The Post/Single Member Pluraliity) is certainly not the most democratic. What would be. If the focus is on electing representatives one could argue Ranked Ballot is the best option. If the focus is representing Canadians political views one could argue Proportional Representation is the best option. #ElectoralReform #elections #elections

A representative from Fair Vote Canada interviewed on CBC is optimistic that the case can be made for #electoralReform to the PM elect and to candidates throughout the country. We all can do our part to support this.
Ranked choice voting levels the playing field for women, candidates of color, and people new to the political game. Candidates don't have to worry about "spoiling the election" and voters don't have to worry about "strategic voting." With RCV, everyone gets a fair chance in our elections and voters can vote their true preferences.

WHY are we not more #OUTRAGED when about 40% of the voters (sometimes less, this time it was 43%) routinely elect governments with policies that the majority 60% of the voters oppose.
