There are a lot of promising elements in PM #MarkCarney's speech here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OP1NFShCMiM
In addition to announcing that the King will open Parliament, there are commitments to restraint in spending increases, tax cuts, new infrastructure, toughened bail requirements and more housing.
Lots to do; I sincerely hope that the new government succeeds in addressing the many challenges facing Canadians.
It is excellent news that the King will be coming to Canada to open the new session of Parliament. In this time when Canadian sovereignty is threatened, the sovereign can play an important role in its defence.
This is a wise move by PM #MarkCarney .
After talking shit about the NDP this whole election, I guess I'mma join them now. We need a proper leftist party and the downfall of the NDP is the perfect opportunity to build it up better.
"For the Boomer comfortably retired in Kelowna, childless in Summerhill, or “elbows up” in a mortgage-free Queen Anne home in the Glebe, the election was about Trump and not much else."
"If you are in your 20s or 30s, however, your priorities in the election were the cost of housing, the cost of living more broadly, and quality of life, especially crime, drug chaos, and out-of-control immigration."

"If you bought your first home 20 years ago and if you were well-established in your career before 2015, the last decade didn’t feel so bad. Sure, the prices at your local coffee shop went up and you were constantly surprised by the Lucullan cost of eggs and cheese at Farm Boy, but you shrugged and sucked it up, especially if you had an indexed and defined benefit pension from the golden age of Canadian employment."

It's a trivial matter, and maybe not worth spending time on at all at the moment, but if PM #MarkCarney makes a quick decision on the future of 24 Sussex, that will be a promising sign for his premiership.
On the one hand, I'm glad to see there were way, WAY more #Liberal supporters that I thought in my neighbourhood. I really am.
On the other hand, the #election is over and you have to take your #signs off your lawn.
I'm sorry to be that guy, but there are actual laws that demand #politicalsigns be taken down after elections. I even remember (about twenty five years ago) a small party leader getting into trouble for being a sore loser and refusing to pick up the signs for his party.
#DanArnold gives further details:
"For those wondering, the Conservatives were 11,826 votes away from winning the most seats. They were 37,168 votes away from winning a majority. 5 additional Brampton ridings are on that "majority map", so expect a big focus there in coming years."

There are always things that could have been done better, and perhaps that includes #PierrePoilievre's manner, but the #CPC would have won #elxn45 if Pres. Trump had not caused the collapse of the NDP and Bloc vote.
Poilievre has a strong (not ironclad) case to stay Tory leader
https://nationalpost.com/opinion/selley-poilievre-has-strong-case-to-stay-conservative-leader
"[A]uthenticity has been one of Poilievre’s strengths. But as impressive as 41.3 per cent of the popular vote is, his authentic personality also clearly turns a lot of people off. One example from the campaign just finished was particularly striking, namely, his tough-on-crime agenda."
I'd bet the #crime policies of the #CPC won votes on net; but the rhetoric was not ideal.
Liberals were just 611 votes from a majority government. Here’s how
https://nationalpost.com/news/canada/liberals-were-just-611-votes-from-a-majority-government-heres-how
«Trump about Carney "Well, I think we're going to have a great relationship."
"They both hated Trump and it was the one that hated Trump I think the least that [won]."
"I actually think the conservative hated me much more than the so called liberal."
"I spoke to him yesterday."
"He couldn't have been nicer and I congratulated him."»
Sudden moment of clarity.
In #Canada, all three major party leaders have lost their parliament seats. This might very well be a hard reset on Canadian politics.
I hope the #NDP stops looking for the next Jack Layton and just selects a leader that reoeats Bernie Sander's speeches. It's not that hard to know what to do!
While #SmallBusiness are getting squeezed by #TrumpTariffs big corporations are finding the loopholes they need to exploit to get around them.

#Canada could exploit this, becoming a major trans-shipping point for the #USA.
#american's Make your product #CUSMA (#USMCA / #MUSCA) compliant:
Ship from China to Canada, have us repackage, then it can be shipped tariff free to the #US.
"Calls for greater provincial autonomy — or outright secession — will grow louder, particularly if Carney is forced to kill energy infrastructure projects to placate his partners. Alberta Premier Danielle Smith will howl at every opportunity — and U.S. President Donald Trump will only be too happy to fan the flames of discontent to achieve his dream of making Canada his “cherished 51st state.”"
