#Munich to #Verona
with an #ÖBB #RailjetNewGen. Our stop at #Innsbruck
includes a locomotive change: time to get off for a photo or two. The menu in the @diningcar comes with an Italian touch. (The “pasta e fagioli” soup is very nice.) And: I’m in @seatsixtyone today.
Travelling on board an #ÖBB #DaNi #RailjetNewGen #Railjet2 trainset northwards to #Innsbruck. An ÖBB Class 1293 #Vectron, one of just five passenger 1293s, is hauling the train between #Verona and #Innsbruck
. And yes, there’s a @diningcar where one can enjoy a nice lunch.
Then the #RailjetNewGen to München Ost. Will again experience the Brenner line in daylight. And I am in the last carriage without any loco or driving trailer behind so I can take video out of the end windows! #Interrail
Verona PN has an impressive mural in the station hall.
And now something to eat. ”Bad Ischler gestürztes Kraut”, that is ”Bad Ischl style cabbage bake with smoked meat”. And some Grüner Veltliner. Yummy. Even if just microwaved. Didn’t have any pudding, although I was tempted by the Apfelstrudel. #ÖBB #RailjetNewGen #Interrail @diningcar
Wireless mobile phone charging! In a train! This is the wireless space communism we were promised!? #ÖBB #RailjetNewGen
As there is no ”real” @diningcar with white tablecloth in these trains, one could as well order something to one’s seat, no? Decisions, decisions. Tempting delicacies. The Gestürztes Kraut sounds exciting. #Interrail #RailjetNewGen
The #ÖBB #DaNi #RailjetNewGen trains come with a variety of #catering options:
*a @diningcar section in the carriage located between the 1st and 2nd class. (Same menu as on “older” #Railjet|s.)
*vending machines in about every other car.
*at seat service in First & Business.
Hello from on board the #ÖBB #Railjet from #Munich
to #Bologna
. The #DaNi #RailjetNewGen is “Vectron nosed” on either end: 1293.047 is hauling the consist. The driving trailer at the rear is of the same cab design, but isn’t operating as such yet. It only gives the (false) impression to “lead” when in shunting mode.
#Munich Ost earlier today: #ÖBB
#Vectron 1293 050 hauling a #RailjetNewGen from #Innsbruck. ÖBB Class 1293 on passenger workings are still a rare sight (for the time being, only five of them have the necessary certification) but this should become more common at some stage … .
Some impressions from today’s voyage on board the first scheduled #ÖBB #RailjetNewGen service, southbound over the #Brenner line. Arriving at #Verona P.N. station
at dusk. Beautiful scenery all along.
The deployment of ÖBB #RailjetNewGen trainsets on the #Brenner line, from #Munich
via #Innsbruck
to #Verona
and beyond, means the welcome return of the @diningcar on this route from today on.
At #Innsbruck station, boarding @unsereOEBB Railjet #87, the first revenue-earning service to #Italy
worked by one of the brand new (and very stylish) #RailjetNewGen trainsets.
An interesting feature of the “new” #ÖBB #RailjetNewGen: fully enclosed #Business compartments - 4 seats w/ maximum privacy, like the #Frecciarossa “Salottino”. A meaningful choice aiming at the Italian market: the new RJs will replace the “Brenner-EuroCity” trains. 2/2
First Class travellers on the #ÖBB #RailjetNewGen can enjoy an open plan “1+2” seating. The options include individual seats, two seats next to each other, bays of four and two seats facing each other. Seat pitch (airline-style) is 95.5 cms (compared to 99.5 for the “old” RJ).
The #ÖBB #RailjetNewGen comes with a mix of seating patterns: in 2nd class we’ve got “airline-style” coach seating, bays of four (with table) and, a welcome surprise, compartments for six. Seat pitch (airline style) is 86.5 cms (compared to 91.5 in the “old” #RJ).
The #ÖBB #RailjetNewGen comes with various catering options:
- the @diningcar restaurant, providing traditional table service,
- a counter where where you can buy food and drinks from a steward, for take-away
- “snack zone” vending machines in roughly every other car.
My first trip on board a brand new #ÖBB #RailjetNewGen trainset, working an additional Easter-weekend super-peak service from #Feldkirch to #Vienna today.
Level boarding throughout, except for the first and last cars.
A train full of interesting features.
