The copy process, the backup process, of the storage device which I shall use to back up a another OS to, will free up the device to install illumos on, has just passed it's twenty and a half hour mark.
Since the process is so extremely slow, using my SBC to execute this task is perfect because the Raspberry Pi5 uses very little power.

At this rate I will have the backup completed in about 5 hours.

Note:
Back-up storage is allowed to be slow. Many decades ago, way in the beginning, tape storage was also extremely slow. In the days of the Commodore 64 the datasette was an annoyance for many, since it was extremely slow, however it was reliable given the fact that you used proper tapes.

Dus, ik ging naar Coolblue in Rotterdam met de metro, SSD halen (want beter dan SD kaartje). Daar de nieuwste HA versie op gezet en de backup wordt op dit moment teruggezet. 🤞

Any time somebody tries to use a job, a situation, or something material to pressure her (sometimes to the point of blackmail) she tells them if they continue she's okay with throwing it all away and starting elsewhere where they won't have her services. Usually, she gets her way. One story, however, she's attending a school and is loath to give that up. What crap she willing to endure, what bad things she's willing to do, in that situation proves interesting—what the antagonists end up suffering when she reaches her breaking point is even more so.

Second round, this time the #HomeAssistant on my #RaspberryPi4 - I still had a 32-bit install and it was time to migrate. Support ends this year and #ESPHome already couldn't be updated any more.
It was relatively easy - create a #backup on old system, boot a new install and select #restore on the setup page.
It took a while to restore everything, and I got impatient, but after around 30 minutes it was finished and everything like before.
