During the first few months of new #Trump administration #WhiteHouse slashed #cybersecurity budgets, staff, and initiatives. And some, including cybersecurity experts & #legislators, are not happy about it. One of them is Colin Ahern, chief cyber officer for state of #NewYork. In a recent interview with TechCrunch, Ahern said that both he and New York Governor #KathyHochul are worried that the Trump administration’s cuts to cybersecurity are putting the country at #risk. techcrunch.com/2025/07/28/new-

TechCrunch · New York state cyber chief calls out Trump for cybersecurity cuts | TechCrunchThe top cybersecurity official in New York told TechCrunch in an interview that Trump's budget cuts are going to put the government at risk from cyberattacks, and will put more pressure on states to secure themselves.
click.actionnetwork.orgTell State Leaders. Pass tougher gun laws now The facts are undeniable. A comprehensive new study in JAMA Pediatrics confirms what parents, teachers, and first responders have long known. States that loosen their gun laws are seeing more children die from gun violence. States that pass and enforce strict firearm safety laws are saving lives. The data covers more than a decade of changes in state-level gun policies after the Supreme Court decision in 2010 undermined local restrictions. The result is over 7,400 more children dead in states that rolled back protections than what researchers predicted. These were not random tragedies. They were the foreseeable result of policies that increased access to guns and removed safeguards. There is no mystery about what works. States like California, Massachusetts, New York, and New Jersey, all with comprehensive gun safety laws, saw lower or stable rates of child firearm deaths. These states implemented universal background checks, safe storage laws, and red flag laws. These are proven life-saving measures. Unsurprisingly, states like Missouri, Texas, and Florida that weakened their gun laws have watched youth firearm deaths rise. More guns with fewer regulations lead to more funerals. The evidence is overwhelming. We can stop this crisis. But we need leaders who put children and public health ahead of gun industry profits and political extremism. Click ‘START WRITING’ to sign and send a direct message calling on your state legislators and governor to pass tougher gun laws – including closing loopholes, mandating background checks, requiring secure storage, and more – to protect children and save lives now!

Tibet, not Xizang

Right now, Free Tibet is working hard on this campaign to determine the best path forward in challenging China’s global influence and informing institutions about the history and importance of Tibet.

Free TibetTibet, Not XizangChina is trying to wipe Tibet off the map, we need to put a stop to it.

A tip when writing to #legislators (which I highly recommend, as their staffers keep track of what people write to them about): Figure out their committees and leadership, plus their issues, and then, if you can, tie in your message accordingly. And start your message with a hook, not "I'm writing to you because…"

I recently did this and got two long, very thoughtful responses very much connected to what I'd written. Not from my GOP one, but I'm always going to write to her anyway.
