The Texas Senate passed a bill that would require people to provide proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote in state elections. It would effectively require the state to prepare one ballot for federal elections and another for state elections.

Americans, make sure you have a passport ASAP.

" Roughly half of Americans had U.S. passports last year, according to the State Department, and a birth certificate is not listed as an acceptable proof of citizenship under the order. Some of the other eligible ID records Trump's executive order suggests — like REAL IDs and military identification cards — do not always show citizenship, "

Continued thread

In case you're wondering, the polls were slammed at 2:00.

Things to remember:

  • Have ID ready
  • Stay in line
  • If you're still in line at 8:00 and stay there, you still get a ballot
  • If there's a problem, ask for a provisional ballot, don't let them make you give up
  • DO NOT, under any circumstances, take a ballot photo/selfie!

I voted today! Here's my sticker to prove it.

It wasn't easy. Before walking to vote, I checked the county clerk's website to make sure that our polling place hadn't changed. They listed the usual location, but when we got there, it was closed & locked. I think they couldn't find enough judges, & they hadn't updated the website. We called the public #library, & they said we could vote there, so we did.

I hope that the bad info didn't suppress the vote.
