I am amazed at how thoughtless the operators of the critical infrastructure sectors #IT , #TK and especially for #OT still are. #dataprotection #datasecurity protection of #databases and especially production facilities seems irrelevant.

This hardware from an automotive supplier would have been a set table for any attacker, there were valid credentials, ssh keys + valid IP addresses from the krb5.conf. This would have meant an undisturbed outflow of data from the company's own data center. 1/2

A couple of nice database victories today. Two large tables each had one column storing DATETIME data and another column storing UNIQUEIDENTIFIER (aka GUID) data. Both columns were incorrectly using data type VARCHAR.

Changing to the appropriate types dropped table sizes from 10.62GB to 4.91GB and from 8.56GB to 6.44GB.
