Here's a screen-viewable copy of The Pandemic Never Ended: Safety for Harm Reductionists and lovers: online.fliphtml5.com/uppam/pky

It's presented as an animated book you flip through, and there's no option I can see to download a print-version of it.

Someone has created a PDF* from this flip-through version, which is good to have, but the PDF has (somewhat distracting) shading at the edges of the pages because of the filp-through-a-"book" interface that it comes from.

It would be really awesome to have a print-quality version of this to distribute. Any ideas of how we could access one?

Boosts appreciated for reach! 🖤🖤🖤

* There's a link to the PDF and the screen-viewable copy in this zine directory: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d from here: Mask Bloc Seattle Covid Safety Printables/Resources directory: drive.google.com/drive/folders (go to Printables by Other Groups > Zines)

Does anyone know of a PRINT-QUALITY version of this Covid safety tri-fold brochure, or how to contact the creators?

It's called:

The Pandemic Never Ended: Safety for Harm Reductionists and lovers.

And it's credited to:

"The Big Gay Guide of How Not to Die" and "Scrap Yard"

The mask bloc I organize with is sourcing Covid zines/etc to distribute at the Upstate Anarchist Book Fair in a couple of weeks, and I'd love to have this one as an option, especially if we can source a print-quality version.

If you know of one, or how to contact the creators, please let me know!

RT @EckerleIsabella@x.com: »My opinion & I will die on this hill: The current anti-vaccine movement will have a major impact on women and will reverse women's rights. When women have to produce extra babies because 1 in 5 will not survive, they will not have energy or time to fight for equality anymore.

While being pregnant, postpartum, caring for many children, caring for a sick child, grieving deceased ones & fearing their siblings dying as well, women will be drained of energy & will not fight oppression. Without vaccines, a lot of healthy children will not survive their early childhood period.

In addition, not providing vaccines will disproportionally affect vulnerable children: While many perfectly healthy children will die, those with underlying conditions are even at higher risk. Not protecting them will shorten their life. We've seen it already during Covid.

I just want to stress this: Most of society is not aware in which a luxury situation vaccines has put parents in only the last few decades, that is, not seeing your young children die. If you don't believe me, read books about the polio period, or visit an old graveyard. It's all there.«

@Ashedryden sure:

  • be well rested and less stressed. Really! Immune systems perform better when the organism is well-rested, and worse when under stress conditions. Literally calm your system beforehand with meditation if you can?
  • have your vitamins. Results for vitamins D and C vary from "no effect" to "protective" (pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/ for example), with clear evidence that low vitamin D can down-modulate immunity. Especially important for PoC in northern climes, folks who don't work outdoors, and similar. Maybe start supplementing vitamin D (through sun exposure or pills) a week+ ahead?
  • nasal sprays and mouthwashes. There is evidence for both xylitol and iota-carrageenan giving protection against SARS-CoV-2. A nice review with links to actual research from this past summer: integrativewomenshealthinstitu
  • UV light disinfection, aka Germicidal Ultraviolet. This is harder to access as most installations are for industry, but if you have time and energy perhaps you can DIY it or find a supplier.
  • explicitly say "And if you want to come but are feeling sick, let us know, and we'll drop off a get-better goodie basket and a little gift!" or similar, so folks who are ill have motivation to not come.

You've already said you will ventilate and filter. Add more filters? HEPA is great but Corsi-Rosenthal boxes with MERV-13 filters are also highly effective, relatively inexpensive, and if made with computer fans, very very quiet. They can be totally DIY - there's even a song about it youtube.com/watch?v=5XS-7vgThf !!! - , and various sellers have them available as kits or prefabbed, too.

Less likely to be useful:

  • vaccinate 2-3 weeks prior to be at peak vax-induced immunity before waning
  • PlusLife or RAT testing at the door
  • free mask basket at the door. You sound perhaps willing to use an N95 but you indicated your guests wouldn't.

I hope some of those help! None of them will guarantee no infection, but when one must face such situations, the odds can be improved.

@maggiejk It looks like we share the "Living in the woods" dream. Unfortunately, and that we also share, chronic illness and living in the woods is somewhat difficult to get right. Finding woods with access to healthcare within reasonable driving distance is quite a challenge.
I agree that the guy could at least consider masking, but I can understand how hard it is to switch after 5+ years. How would he tell family and friends that he's now masking. I know how, but he probably doesn't.
And yes, I think "empathy fatigue" describes very well the state of mind #covidcautious people are reaching. Observing everyone getting dumber and sicker twice a year but still refusing to start masking is making me more and more oblivious to their complaints. What is there to answer anyway? They don't want to hear what needs to be done. So why bother?!

It's time to start digging in to my mask project!

I need good, solid resources to back up a presentation I'll be giving to the local public. What are the most reliable and ethical doctors, journalists, advocates, research, statistics, or sites that you've seen?

I'll be talking about air quality, advocating environmental justice through citizen science and mutual aid, and my focus is going to be ventilation and masking.

The program is organized by a local group of folks that started putting up air sensors all over town because of toxic chemical leaks from nearby refineries. They got a grant through a university, and they may be able to help me out in getting an air quality sensor so I can test the CO2 in local buildings. I'd also like to be able to pass out some mask samples. I've been trying to find info on other things like sip valves, elastomeric respirator exhaust valve filter adapters, good sites to buy masks and so on.

Since these issues got politicized and the CDC and WHO are increasingly corrupt/hamstrung, finding good info is a fuckin MESS. I could really use some help!

What's been very interesting to me is, the folks who promote masking are usually ALSO right on other issues. Masks are required at the local anarchist book fairs, for example, which to me says a LOT. The people I follow here on Mastodon who are solidly against genocide, fascism, capitalism, and lesser evilism are the SAME people who are solidly for issues like universal healthcare, right to repair, accessibility, direct action, labor organizing, etc etc-- you have a moral consistency that inspires my respect and hope, and I want to learn more from you!

Next post below will be where I list the sources I've collected, updating as I go.

FYI - Blox is doing a huge sale on their N95 masks right now, they're only charging $15 for a case of 300 masks! These are the masks I use day-to-day (incl. 8 hour work shifts), I personally find them a lot comfier/better fitting for my face than any other n95s I've tried, and they are legit NIOSH-approved n95s. (This may sound like an ad but they're not paying me, I just like these masks and was shocked that they're doing such a big sale & wanted to give others a heads-up since it's rare to see legit masks this cheap)
