Collective adaptive goes virtuous circle:
- sharing information,
- creating opportunities for people to share the "messy details" of their experience,
- inquiring into team member’s ways "to expand what goes well",
- drawing from the capacity across the work collective.

The toxic person took her trashy abusive self out of our lives today. It happened shortly after she got pissed off about being called out on phone call where the chief was there. She tried to deflect things & wasn't open to transparency. Then tried to emotionally blackmail my partner again & failed again. Then attempted to hold password to his business & to nonprofit society files hostage until he brought in digital creation guy & got password back. He'll be changing passwords immediately too. Everything I predicted she'd try to do - she did. Textbook covert abusers are somewhat predictable because they use the same manipulative playbooks.

#AbusivePeople hate #transparency. If you're forced to deal with them - ensure you're never alone when communicating with them. Protect yourselves & always have at least one witness around.

My partner is protecting himself, me & others from a #vindictive woman who has become nastier since being confronted for her abusive, #manipulative actions towards both of us. People like her become quite vicious & underhanded when they're called out for being #dishonest & #abusive. We aren't taking any chances. We are informing some folks, backing up work files, documenting everything/all communications from abusive person & blocking their access to work related documents.

I am driven by my emotions.

"Our opinions generally have emotional rather than intellectual roots, and indeed rationality largely functions as a post hoc justification. Our political opinions, ultimately, are what we feel about the world, not what we think about it. And in turn, our opinions about particular events have a lot to do with how we feel about the world in general. It’s not an exaggeration to say that most people’s views about the kind of things that happen today are extensions of concerns of their own ego. And consequently, invitations to change their minds because new facts emerge, or because old ideas are discredited by new evidence, are in fact a threat to the strength and even survival of that ego."

"But few people, especially those who have received a decent education, want to acknowledge that their views are based on emotion and not reason. They therefore try to argue".

What to do if bullying? Try consistent boundaries

1. do not writhe or waver. (Movement attracts the bully)
2. do not attempt to appease. (Any offer is interpreted as weakness and obtains thrust)
3. flee to a safe position that you could hold with support
4. then stand still. Set limits on how others treat you. Affirm boundaries (The bully will redirect attacks eventually)
5. connect: turn to a trusted person, reach out only to someone you feel well about
6. offer backing, foster, become accomplice, enjoy

"What happens when we put love and intimacy at the center of our understanding of privacy, and what are the consequences of their disavowal, in favor of a more familiar technocratic definition of privacy-as-absense? What role does our deep desire for love and belonging, and our concomitant fear of shame and rejection, have to do with the (mis)direction of tech capital and the current, warped shape of the tech industry and its products?"

Your location data can be used to enhance services, but it’s important to understand how to manage and control this feature for privacy and security.

Here’s a quick guide on limiting collection of your location data:

1. Check App Permissions:

On iOS: Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services. Review apps and adjust permissions (e.g., "While Using the App" or "Never").

On Android: Go to Settings > Location > App Permissions to customize location access for each app.

2. Turn Off Location When Not Needed:

Disable location services entirely when not in use by toggling it off in your device settings.

3. Use Airplane Mode:

In situations where you need maximum privacy, enabling airplane mode can temporarily disable all connectivity, including GPS.

4. Control System-Level Tracking:

On iOS: Turn off "Significant Locations" under Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services.

On Android: Disable Google Location History via Settings > Location > Location History.

5. Use Precise vs. Approximate Location:

Many devices allow you to choose whether an app uses your exact location or an approximate one. Opt for approximate unless precise tracking is necessary.

6. Regularly Review Settings:

Technology updates may reset preferences. Make a habit of reviewing your privacy settings periodically.

Your location data is valuable. Some apps and companies monetize your location data by sharing or selling it to third-party data brokers. Take control to decide when and how it’s shared.

On July 14, 1970, a group of activists, many of them in their late teens and early 20s, occupied Lincoln Hospital in the South Bronx. They barricaded themselves inside the facility, demanding safer and more accessible health care for the community.

The dramatic takeover of Lincoln Hospital led to one of the first Patient’s Bill of Rights, changing patients’ relationship with hospitals and doctors nationwide.

@TycoonTom

That's cool. I hope you have a nice experience! Pixel 8 is an awesome phone! I have a 7! :)

Anyhoo, the Personal Safety app, depending on your circumstances, can be a literal life-saver.

It has the following features:

  1. Car Crash detection
  2. Emergency SOS
  3. Emergency Real-time location and status sharing (with contacts)
  4. Emergency Video Recording (backup and sharing)
  5. Safety Check-in (for when you go out/alone) with contacts
  6. Crisis alerts

Your Pixel 8 will definitely have this. But, if you install Graphene OS on it, you will lose access to this app.

It's up to you if you need it or not! :) Personally, it's a deal breaker.

Shit! Wish I'd known this before:

The Personal Safety app which is included in Pixel phones by default doesn't work on Graphene OS! 😬

That's a bummer!

discuss.grapheneos.org/d/3177-

This is an important feature for me. 😇 The forums say that it can't be added to Graphene OS without major changes to the compatibility layer.

I might have to roll back! 🤔

"Anti-oppression, civil rights, and decolonization struggles clearly reveal that if resistance is even slightly effective, the people who struggle are in danger. The choice is not between danger and safety, but between the uncertain dangers of revolt and the certainty of continued violence, deprivation, and death."
