Hey riders

I started out on a 2016 KICKR V2
I upgraded to a Kickr Bike when they hit the market and saw a 30-40 watt drop in my FTP immediately.

Now I find myself still chasing Zwift PRs from years ago.

Have you experienced this mild annoyance? Back in the day the feedback was that there was no detectable difference in power between the two platforms but I have the data.

I'm a classic doodler - ride 8-10 hours per week consistently but don't seem to improve much.

@rvaughnmd interesting. Use the Zwift bike, but nothing before, beside a peloton.

@rvaughnmd It's impossible to know which one is more correct without comparing them to a known good power meter such as the Favero Assioma dual-sided pedals. In general the bike is considered more accurate but individual units may vary. The Kickr v2 also depends on manual calibration. It should be relatively stable absent big changes in temperature but your calibration habits can affect its accuracy.

@rvaughnmd Also if you want Zwift to invalidate past PRs, you can contact support and explain the change, ask them to zero out PRs from a certain date. They will often agree to do that.

@pws

I appreciate the feedback. I have no doubt now that the original KICKR v2 was reading too high as the KICKR bike results are close to what I do outside using Assioma's on my road bike and Rival crank power meter on the gravel bike.

I think I'll keep those old inaccurately low PRs for nostalgia's sake. Paraphrasing Billy Joel, those results were obtained "when I wore a younger man's bibs"!

@rvaughnmd I was using my gravel bike (usually covered in mud) on an Elite trainer for 3 years. After initial gains, my Zwift performance had been pretty static.

I got a Zwift Ride for Christmas. I was immediately matching my best. In the last 3 months, my FTP has increased 20% and I've been shifted into group B.

I do think that Zwift Ride is reporting higher power. I'm not sure how much is a difference in accuracy, and how much is a non-flexy frame that doesn't have grit in the drivetrain.

@guigsy sounds very familiar, though I went in the opposite direction!
