One of my pet peeves is people who say that they have food poisoning when they simply have diarrhea.

Do they not know what food poisoning really is? (spoiler alert: it can be life-threatening and you usually spend a couple of days in the hospital)

Or is the quality of food in their country so bad that you actually risk food poisoning?

If they don't want to say that they have diarrhea (I understand, it's tricky to spell) they can simply say that they have a stomachache, everyone will understand.
