#Movies #XmasMovies

So, I just watched the #movie #DieHard (1998) again after many years and, despite those who think to the contrary, I've decided that, even though it is shot during the Xmas season, it is NOT an Xmas movie in the traditional sense.

There are many other movies that were set (in whole or part) during the Xmas season but none of those are thought of as Xmas movies.

To me, DieHard is mainly an action film set during the Xmas season with a romantic subplot but it's not an Xmas movie which inspires one with the feelings giving, love & acceptance from family &/or community which is typical of such movies.

#ItsAWonderfulLife (1946) the most obvious example of the genre.

So, for those of you who have seen it, what do you think? Is DieHard (the movie) an Xmas movie to you or not?

Will rewatch this classic soon.🎦☃️🎄

Meet Me in St. Louis is a 1944 American Christmas musical film made by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Divided into a series of seasonal vignettes, starting with Summer 1903, it relates the story of a year in the life of the Smith family in St. Louis leading up to the opening of the Louisiana Purchase Exposition (most commonly referred to as the World's Fair) in the spring of 1904.

You had me at Charlie Brown. 😉

Other than that, my Xmas movie list is entirely different than yours because, even though I don't put up a tree or give gifts (except to my grandkids) anymore, I'm just an Xmas romantic. So, here (in no particular order) is my Xmas movie my list:

Charlie Brown Xmas (1965)
Frosty the Snowman (1969)
Rudolf the Rednosed Reindeer (Burl Ives, 1964)

Wizard of Oz (Garland,1939)
Holiday Inn (Crosby & Astair, 1941) or
White Christmas (Crosby & Kaye, 1954)
It's a Wonderful LIfe (Stewart & Reed,1946)
Little Shop Around the Corner (Stewart & Morgan,1940)
Miracle on 34th Street (Gwenn & Wood, 1947)
March of the Wooden Soldiers aka Babes in Toyland (Laurel & Hardy,1934)
A Christmas Carol (Reginald, Owen, 1938)
