C. Peter Wagner, who died in 2016,
wrote dozens of additional books with titles such as
"Dominion!"
and "Churchquake!"

The movement allowed Christianity to be changed and updated,
embracing the idea that God was raising new apostles and prophets
who could not only interpret ancient scripture
but deliver
“fresh words” and dreams from heaven
on a rolling, even daily basis.

One of Wagner’s most talented acolytes,
a preacher named
#Lance #Wallnau,
repackaged the concept of dominionism into what he popularized as the
👉“7 Mountain Mandate,”
essentially an action plan for how Christians could dominate the seven spheres of life
—government, education, media, and the four others posted on the walls
like targets at Gateway House of Prayer.

What happened next is the story of these ideas spreading far and wide
into an American culture primed to accept them.

Churches interested in growing found that the NAR formula worked,
delivering followers a sense of purpose and value in the Kingdom.

Many started hosting “7M” seminars
and offering coaching and webinars,
which often drew wealthy businesspeople into the fold.

After the 2016 election, a group of the nation’s ultra-wealthy conservative Christians
organized as an invitation-only charity called #Ziklag,
a reference to the biblical city where David found refuge during his war against King Saul.

According to an investigation by ProPublica,
the group stated in internal documents that its purpose was to
“take dominion over the Seven Mountains.”

Wallnau is an adviser.

By last year, 42 percent of American Christians agreed with the statement
“God wants Christians to stand atop the ‘7 Mountains of Society,’ ”
according to Paul Djupe, a Denison University political scientist
who has been developing new surveys to capture what he and others describe as a
“fundamental shift” in American Christianity.

Roughly 61 percent agreed with the statement that
“there are modern-day apostles and prophets.”

Roughly half agreed that
“there are demonic ‘principalities’ and ‘powers’
who control physical territory,”
and that the Church should
“organize campaigns of spiritual warfare and prayer to displace high-level demons.”

Overall, Djupe told me, the nation continues to become more secular.

In 1991, only 6 percent of Americans identified as nonreligious,

a figure that is now about 30 percent.

But the Christians who remain are becoming more radical.

“They are taking on these extreme beliefs that give them a sense of power
—they believe they have the power to change the nature of the Earth,” Djupe said.

“The adoption of these sort of beliefs is happening incredibly fast.”

Dominionist leaders attending the youth-focused
Turning Point USA #AmericaFest conference in Phoenix over the weekend
portrayed Donald Trump’s election as a "spiritual warfare victory",
and urged Christian-right activists to “occupy” more territory by building a bigger Republican majority in Congress.

The AmericaFest speaker lineup included Trump,
other MAGA politicians,
right-wing commentators like #Tucker #Carlson,
and dominionists like #Lance #Wallnau.
House Speaker Mike Johnson cancelled a planned appearance after becoming the target of MAGA rage over a bipartisan budget deal that was attacked by Elon Musk.

In recent years, #TPUSA founder #Charlie #Kirk has made a public shift from promoting a kind a snarky, irreverent libertarianism
to embracing an aggressive Christian nationalism that characterizes much of the MAGA movement today.
Broadcasting from AmericaFest’s media row on Thursday night was “FlashPoint,”
a show launched by televangelist #Kenneth #Copeland’s "Victory Channel" in the fall of 2020
that has been a platform for pro-Trump propaganda and prophesying.
One panelist was Pastor #Rob #McCoy, a spiritual mentor to Kirk, who told viewers that he had been at TPUSA’s headquarters on election night,
and that when Pennsylvania was called for Trump, Kirk started weeping and said, “All glory to God.”

A recurring theme from the show’s host #Gene #Bailey and his panelists was that Trump’s victory is no reason for the church to relax.
Wallnau said that conservative evangelical Christians are the key to keeping the political pendulum swinging to the right in the midterm elections two years from now

Trump as divinely ordained

Many NAR leaders and followers support Trump,
viewing him as a divinely appointed figure who would facilitate NAR’s goals for societal reconstruction,
believing he was chosen by God to fulfill a prophetic destiny.

They position Trump as a warrior against a so-called demonically controlled
– and therefore corrupted
– “deep state,”
aligning with NAR’s emphasis on spiritual warfare and cultural dominion as outlined in the “Seven Mountains” mandate.

NAR leaders followed Trump’s understanding of a corrupt government.

The NAR led a
“Million Women” worship rally on Oct. 12, 2024,
to Washington, D.C.,
in which the organizers sought to encourage 1 million women NAR adherents to come to pray, protest and support Trump’s campaign.

The event was promoted as a “last stand moment” to save the nation by helping Trump win the election as a champion against dark, satanic forces.

Several prominent politicians, legislators and members of the judiciary, such as House Speaker #Mike #Johnson and Supreme Court Justice #Samuel #Alito, have flown the NAR-based
“Appeal to Heaven” flag.

For NAR evangelicals, the presidential election is interpreted through a Christian apocalyptic rhetoric.

In this rhetoric one candidate is a force for good, a warrior for God
– Trump
– and the other is led by demonic forces such as Harris.

Trump’s 2024 win is seen as a critical moment of spiritual warfare where the forces of God defeat the forces of evil.

Spiritual warfare

Followers of the NAR believe that they must engage in spiritual warfare,
which includes prayers and actions aimed at combating perceived demonic influences in society.

This practice often involves identifying “strongholds” of evil, around cultural issues,
such as gay marriage, transgender rights and LGBTQ+ activism,
and working to dismantle them.

An example of this is a recent series of religious-based political rallies led by NAR leaders known as “The Courage Tour” that advocated directly for Trump’s second election.

The NAR emphasizes that Christians should expect to see miraculous signs,

where extraordinary events, such as Trump’s survival of an assassination attempt, are interpreted to be explained only by divine or spiritual intervention.

The movement’s adherents also believe in faith-based healing and supernatural experiences, such as prophetic utterances and speech

Central to NAR is the belief that Christian religious leaders should be the main source of cultural and political authority in America.

NAR proponents argue that select leaders receive direct revelation from God, guiding the direction of churches and fighting spiritual warfare against demonic influences, which they believe corrupt the behavior of individuals and nations.

NAR advocates for a hierarchical structure in which religious leaders and their political allies hold authority in society.

They believe in
“The Seven Mountains Mandate,” a way to represent Christian control of society through a strategy that Christians should infiltrate, influence and eventually control seven key areas in society
– business, government, media, arts and entertainment, education, family and religion
– to bring about cultural transformation.

By doing so, NAR proponents believe they can establish a pure and true form of what they believe is a society ruled by divine guidance and strict adherence to biblical ideas.

#Lance #Wallnau, a prominent Christian author, speaker, social media influencer and consultant associated with NAR, has promoted the idea that such engagement where NAR Christian leaders hold authority through a government tied to divine will is essential for advancing societal transformation.

Wallnau has been a vocal supporter of Trump, viewing him as a significant figure in NAR’s vision.

Republican vice-presidential nominee JD #Vance’s appearance at a far-right Christian #revival #tour last month
💥may have broken tax and election laws, experts say.

On Sept. 28, Vance held an official campaign event in Monroeville, Pennsylvania,
in partnership with the
"Courage Tour",
a series of swing-state rallies hosted by a pro-Trump Christian influencer that combine prayer, public speakers,
👉tutorials on how to become a poll worker and get-out-the-vote programming.

#Ziklag, a secretive organization of wealthy Christians, funds the Courage Tour,
according to previously unreported documents obtained by ProPublica and Documented.

🔥A private donor video produced by Ziklag said the group intended to spend $700,000 in 2024 to mobilize Christian voters by funding
“targeted rallies in swing states”
led by #Lance #Wallnau, the pro-Trump influencer.

Even before the Vance event, ProPublica previously reported that tax experts believed Ziklag’s 2024 ❌election-related efforts could be in violation of tax law.

The Vance event, they said, raised even more red flags about whether a 🆘 tax-exempt charity had improperly benefited the Trump-Vance campaign.

“I pray for an anointing.
Angels will go with them,
and they’ll expose the hidden works of darkness,”
#Lance #Wallnau said.

“They’ll be led to discover whatever nefarious things are being done by the darkness.”

Wallnau did similar recruiting in Arizona, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin,
directing attendees to Lion of Judah.

The organization, which features Trump prominently on its website, offers a free course titled “Fight the Fraud,”
with modules detailing poll workers’ basic duties and helping people find their local elections offices so they can apply
as well as email templates to streamline the process.

It tells students that “election workers matter now more than ever”
because the “threat of election fraud is a serious concern”
and “what happened in 2020 can never happen again!”

At a Wallnau event outside Pittsburgh last month, #Greg #Pontinen of Murrysville, Pennsylvania, said he decided to register as a poll worker after speaking with an activist soliciting support for administering elections by hand-counting paper ballots.

“It just seems like there’s a lot of controversy, and there’s a lot of people that have been in a lot of anguish over the last election,
of improprieties and rigged elections,” he said.

“I think if you have oversight on that, you have less chance of that, and I think that’s a firsthand chance for me to actually watch for that.”

Right-Wing Activists Pushed False Claims About Election Fraud.

-- Now They’re Recruiting Poll Workers in Swing States.

The Republican and Democratic parties have historically recruited poll workers,
and almost every state legally requires some amount of partisan balance.

Ahead of 2024, Republicans have accused officials in five Michigan and Wisconsin cities of unfairly overlooking their nominees and overstaffing polling places with Democrats.

The challenges in Flint, Michigan, and Madison, Wisconsin, were dismissed (one by a court, the other by the Wisconsin Elections Commission),
and Republican applicants in some places have since filed the required paperwork and signed up; other challenges are ongoing.

⚠️What’s newer is groups outside the parties making concerted efforts to recruit poll workers themselves.

The Election Integrity Network, founded by #Cleta #Mitchell, a former lawyer for ex-President Donald Trump, began enlisting poll workers during the 2022 midterms.

Now, more groups have joined it.

💥These include True the Vote, whose claims formed the basis of the widely debunked and eventually retracted film “2000 Mules,” which claimed to show election fraud,

💥and The Lion of Judah, a group aspiring to be the “Christian version of the NRA” that is traveling to swing states with #Lance #Wallnau to recruit conservative Christian poll workers.

Late last month, Trump’s vice presidential nominee, JD #Vance, lent Wallnau’s efforts credibility by appearing at a tour stop in Pennsylvania.

It is unknown how many poll workers these groups have recruited, in part because they aren’t saying and in part because election offices don’t ask people about their motivation.

This isn’t about J.D. #Vance hanging out with pro-Russian fascist podcasters who gleefully platform Holocaust deniers,
-- although that’s definitely a thing.

And it’s not specifically about the libertarian/authoritarian #Peter #Thiel techbro creepers who basically created J.D. in a lab, without whom he’d literally be nothing.
-- But both of those things are related to these things.

This is about the #Christian #nationalists who find themselves in J.D. Vance’s orbit, and he in theirs
— people who are literally prayer-gasming themselves right now at the idea of having one of their own freaks a heartbeat away from the presidency.

To start off with, did y’all hear about the town hall Vance just did with #Lance #Wallnau, one of the most #dangerous “Seven Mountains” Christian Nationalist #Dominionists in the country?

Lance Wallnau is perhaps the foremost figure in what’s called the #New #Apostolic #Reformation movement, which teaches that Christians have a mandate from Heaven to exert dominion over what they call the seven “mountains” of American life
— family, religion, education, media, entertainment, business, and government.

There is no room for democracy in this movement,
it’s authoritarian,
and it craves a dictator.

Wallnau is fucking bonkers.
His movement is fucking bonkers.

Wallnau believes people on the left are literal #demons,
that Kamala Harris has a “Jezebel Spirit,” and so much more.

Oh, and of course, Wallnau and the New Apostolic Reformation believe Donald Trump is a modern-day King Cyrus,
a pagan emperor being used by God to bring forth his kingdom on earth.

Ayup. So it’s not surprising that Wallnau and his movement are deeply entwined with the “Stop the Steal” movement,
which did what it did on January 6, 2021 at the U.S. Capitol.

Wallnau has been doing something called the #Courage #Tour.

And sweet, kind, caring, moderate J.D. Vance was a special guest on that Courage Tour last weekend in Pennsylvania,
though he was careful not to appear with Wallnau, and did his best to make the event seem as innocuous as possible.

As it happens, Stephanie McCrummen published an article in The Atlantic this week called
“The Christian Radicals Are Coming,”
which is all about the tour’s stop in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

Half Pentecostal tent revival, half voter registration and mobilization event, the thousands who attended were treated to several days of the kind of radicalizing, violent rhetoric you usually hear in documentaries about, well, radicalized movements that turn violent.

Wallnau told congregants about a scene from Gladiator featuring its main character Maximus, and asked the crowd if they were ready to be “activated in your Maximus anointing.”

He told attendees he suspected they were “nobodies on earth who are somebodies in the spirit.” That’ll make ‘em feel special.

Another speaker, a weirdo author named #Bill #Federer, who seems to think he’s a historian, told them they were “important people,” and that “God has chosen you” for this moment in history.

He cited a quote from Peter Thiel
— hi, gay libertarian techbro Peter Thiel!
— which said that “The political slogan of the antichrist is ‘peace and safety.’ ”

(Which is funny because isn’t that what all Trump’s Nazi scaremongering about being women’s protector is?)

Federer, jumping the shark completely, told the crowd that
“Someday, you’re going to be dead” and in Heaven
— specifically in Moses’s living room,
some kind of celestial onesie party, I guess
— and Moses will tell stories of all the hot shit he did and David will talk about that one time he fucked up Goliath,

and then everybody will look at the MAGA Christians and ask them what they did.

Rolling Stone · Vance Links Up With Christian Extremist Who Called Harris a ‘Jezebel’ Practicing ‘Witchcraft’By Nikki McCann Ramirez
C.IMChuck Darwin (@cdarwin@c.im)On a sweltering evening in the thumb pad of Michigan’s mitten, a self-described prophet promised 700 Christians under a crisp white tent that they were about to #cheat #death. They would do this by winning the swing state for Donald Trump. The reasoning was simple: Each of the Christians assembled would soon feel a call to become a #poll #watcher or to knock on doors or to organize their church —to take part in some act that would aid the Republican presidential candidate. ⭐️And that act would keep them safe, the prophet said, because God would not call them home before they had completed the task He had given them. 🔥“The greatest argument you have with death is an unfulfilled assignment,” the man, #Lance #Wallnau, told the crowd This was the third stop of the “#Courage #Tour,” a traveling worship spectacle passing through key battleground states ahead of the upcoming presidential election. Organized by Wallnau, a sixtysomething Texas-based evangelical with a salesman’s persona, the three-day event was a marriage of the religious and the political, a swirl of prophecies and PowerPoints and speaking in tongues. It was a call to arms, a campaign strategy session, and —above all —an honest-to-God old-fashioned Pentecostal tent revival. It was also a showcase of the power of a rapidly growing, militant right-wing movement in American Christianity. Wallnau is a major leader in a coalition of Christians who believe that Trump is prophesied to play a critical role in the nation’s spiritual reformation —that the former president is destined to be a catalyst for the next Great Awakening, even. These Christians see Trump as a modern-day Cyrus the Great, the powerful empire builder and nonbeliever who is credited in the Old Testament with returning the Jews to the Holy Land. They believe that under Trump’s protection, American Christians will rise up, defeat their #demonic #enemies, and take their rightful place of power in the country. This belief in a Trump prophecy has only grown stronger among the faithful since the former president survived an #assassination attempt in July. It is so strong, in fact, that anything that could stand in Trump’s way —democratic or otherwise —is perceived as a force of #evil that must be battled on a spiritual plane. This has already played out once: After Trump lost the 2020 election, Wallnau held nearly daily rants about the #stolen #election on Facebook Live; he decreed in one online prayer call that 💥God would overturn the election results. He spoke at a major rally for Christian election deniers in Washington on Dec. 12 of that year, warning that there was “a backlash coming” and announcing that it would be the “beginning of a #Christian #populist #uprising.” He and other right-wing Christian leaders circled the Capitol while blowing #shofars and praying for the election to be overturned, drawing clear parallels to the biblical story from the Book of Joshua in which the Israelite army marches around the city of Jericho, blowing horns until its walls crumble and the Israelites conquer the city and #slaughter its inhabitants. The event, which preceded a night of #political #violence in the nation’s capital, drew thousands of attendees in what was widely seen as a precursor to the Jan. 6 riot. https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2024/09/donald-trump-2024-president-election-shooting-christians.html

Vance to talk at tour hosted by ‘prophet’ who thinks Harris practices witchcraft

JD #Vance will speak at an event on Saturday hosted by the self-styled prophet and political extremist #Lance #Wallnau,
who has claimed Kamala Harris practices #witchcraft and has written that the US is headed toward #bloody internal #conflict.

The campaign announced earlier this week that the Republican vice-presidential candidate will participate in a “town hall” as part of the #Courage #tour, a traveling pro-Trump tent revival, during a stop in #Monroeville, #Pennsylvania.

Wallnau, who hosts the tour and broadcasts its speakers on his online show
– drawing hundreds in-person and sometimes tens of thousands virtually
– is a proponent of the “#seven #mountains#mandate, which commands Christians to seek leadership in seven key areas of society
– the church, the education system, the family, the media, the arts, business and government.

He is also a leader in the #New #Apostolic #Reformation (NAR), a movement that features modern-day #apostles and has taken hold in particular in non-denominational #charismatic churches that embrace faith healing and believe that the Holy Spirit can speak directly through believers in the form of speaking in tongues and prophesy.

These religious spaces often also practice “deliverance ministry” and “spiritual warfare” to cleanse people of demonic entities.

Karrie Gaspard-Hogewood, a scholar whose research focuses on such groups, noted that NAR-aligned practitioners engage in a unique form of “#spiritual #warfare
– fighting malign forces in not only individuals who are believed to be inhabited by a malign entity, but also entire geographic areas.

“Spiritual warfare is the belief that a demon has taken up residence and is controlling anything from a large geographic space to a culture, to the White House or the supreme court,” said Gaspard-Hogewood.

Extremism researchers worry that spiritual warfare, which is by definition waged in the supernatural realm, could become dangerous if interpreted excessively literally.

On January 6, spiritual warriors affiliated with the #Jericho #March rallied at the Capitol to protest against the election results, engaging in a form of spiritual warfare on the National Mall.

Wallnau, who himself prophesied that Trump would win the 2016 election and rejected the outcome when he didn’t win again in 2020, doubled down on his position at a stop of the Courage tour in Wisconsin.

“January 6 was not an insurrection
– it was an election fraud intervention!” Wallnau exclaimed to the roaring crowd.

Wallnau has also written in his book, "God’s Chaos Candidate: Donald J Trump and the American Unraveling", that he believes the United States is headed toward a potentially bloody clash
– a “fiery trial” that will come “both to believers and nations”.

In his book, in which he also claims to have met with Trump on multiple occasions, Wallnau writes that the US is entering a “crucible”, which will involve “a ‘conflict’ of ideologies, often arms, to determine a victor in the power clash”.

The Guardian · Vance to talk at tour hosted by ‘prophet’ who thinks Harris practices witchcraftBy Alice Herman

In 2023, self-proclaimed Christian nationalist and unabashed Trump cultist #Lance #Wallnau announced his intention to travel the country ahead of the 2024 elections
-- in order to break the “demonic strongholds” in swing states that have supposedly been preventing Republicans from winning elections.

Wallnau’s vision manifested itself in the form of the “#Courage #Tour,” a series of multi-day events during which attendees hear from religious-right activists who mobilize them politically during the daily sessions, while the evening sessions are dedicated to spiritual revival and miracle healings lead by right-wing evangelist and fellow Trump cultist Mario Murillo.

This week, Wallnau and Murillo
—both of whom have have been vicious critics of Vice President Kamala Harris, declaring that she is “the devil’s choice” and that her campaign is under “demonic power”
—are taking their “Courage Tour” to Pennsylvania, where they will be joined by Trump’s running mate, Sen. J.D. #Vance.

While the immediate purpose of the “Courage Tour” is to reelect Trump,
Wallnau revealed during a stop in Michigan earlier this year that the ultimate purpose behind the event is
to prepare Christians to rule and reign when Jesus Christ returns by training them to “occupy territory now.”
