"Shipoopi" is a song in the 1957 musical #TheMusicMan by #MeredithWillson. The song is sung by the character of Marcellus Washburn, a friend of con man "Professor" Harold Hill. It occurs in act 2 of the play during the dance committee's rehearsal which the town kids interrupt. Neither the song's lyrics nor the surrounding dialogue explain the meaning of the term "shipoopi", which Wilson invented for the song and acts as a term of endearment.

"Ya Got Trouble" is a song by #MeredithWillson from the 1957 Broadway #musical #TheMusicMan, and its #1962FilmedVersion. It is one of the most popular and recognizable songs in the musical, and #RobertPreston's performance in the film is admired. Willson considered eliminating a long piece of dialogue from his draft of The Music Man about the serious trouble facing River City parents. However, he realized it sounded like a lyric and transformed it into #YaGotTrouble.

Today, July 7, 1912, librarian Marian Paroo does some research into traveling salesman 'Professor' Harold Hill, and the Wells Fargo wagon arrives in River City, Iowa bringing a lot of shiny new instruments (The Music Man, 1962)
THE MUSIC MAN (1962) is on Tubi If you'd like to celebrate Robert Preston's birthday right here in River City.
The local antiques auction site is always a trove of wonderful things, but here is a print of the very Dan Patch that the Music Man sung to us about!

@StillIRise1963 . Trump/Sneakers/Harold Hill/ trombones.
#Trump, with his sneakers, has reached peak #HaroldHill with his trombones.
It's important to remember that Professor Harold Hill tells us that those kids are "marching still right today!"
What sort of demonic red-shoes band is he talking about?
Real talk, I’ve had band directors that were worse at conducting than Harold Hill. Heck my Dad had a director that insisted the Star Spangled Banner was in 4/4 time. #themusicman #TCMParty
Hell yes the Shipoopi! #TheMusicMan #TCMParty #buddyhackett
Is Marian basically gaslighting herself? #TheMusicMan #TCMParty
“Not on your tintype, girly girl” #TCMParty #TheMusicMan
I figure "The Wells Fargo Wagon" is one of the reasons #TheMusicMan couldn't be updated to the 21st Century. "The UPS Truck" or "Amazon Drone" don't have the same ring to them. #TCMParty
Alternatively, he’s the teacher that sang “in the gloaming” #TheMusicMan #TCMParty
