What the #fediverse really needs is a mailing list (out-of-band) for all #instance #admins and operators. Something like #NANOG for network operators.

And no, Discord is not acceptable. Discord has HUGE privacy, trust, security, and safety issues.

#Email is available whether you're on vacation, in space, hiking across Europe. It's ubiquitous and its available everywhere and on every device.

Call me a boomer if you want. (I'm actually Gen X).

But the fediverse and
#fediadmins need a dedicated mailing list for coordination and discussion.

Barring that then there needs to be a
#published #directory of out-of-band #contact #information for all #fedi #admins. (Opt-in of course.)

📕 ✍️ My mother was born on the farm in a small Mennonite community on Vancouver Island. She grew up mostly in the years after WW2, raising her kids in the 1960s-80s. In her 40s she got her Grade 12, then went to college in Kamloops where she was a nurse into her 70s. She started writing her memoir decades ago, publishing it earlier this year just before she turned 88. She’s a remarkable woman. I’m proud of her. You can read her story here…

“Lemphers is Australian but has spent a significant part of his career in the US. He was part of #Microsoft’s founding team for its huge #AzureCloud #computing business, and worked in its labs run by well-known former chief software architect #RayOzzie, researching #MachineLearning.

#Lemphers declined to say how much had already been invested in Maincode’s early research, but that it was multiple millions of dollars. Accounts filed with the corporate regulator in March showed #EasyGo had #revenues of more than $500 million in the last financial year.

The products #Maincode is developing are still under wraps, and the #startup is preparing for a public launch in coming weeks. It has pitched its model as one that can work alongside #people, rather than replace human #thinking. It has also #published its first scientific #ResearchPaper and claims to have been working with some undisclosed #Australian brands to determine some of the problems its #AImodels should focus on solving.”

"Terry LaBan is a #Philadelphia-based #cartoonist who has #published #comicbook series, had internationally #syndicated strips and, at the end of 2024, published “Mendel the Mess-Up,” a #children’s #graphicnovel that tells the story of a boy who works to save his Eastern European village from the Cossacks.

“Mendel the Mess-Up,” distributed by Penguin Random House, is rooted in his grandfather’s experience, but not based on it.

LaBan is critically acclaimed and popular with #readers young and old, but sometimes, inspiration strikes him in the same way it strikes anyone else: simply."

🎉 My photographs are featured in National Geographic!

NatGeo scoured my website, picking their favourites from my huge portfolio of beautiful #LostPlaces. They chose to feature places all from my home country of #England, amazing!

Thanks to #NationalGeographic for featuring my work, this is definitely a proud moment and a milestone for my journey as a #photographer.

The full feature now live, on their Dutch-language platform - nationalgeographic.nl/fotograf

"Shoshana von Blanckensee didn’t think anyone would ever read “Girls Girls Girls.” The 47-year-old #queer #Jewish #writer and oncology nurse isn’t being self-effacing when she says this to me over Zoom. Realistic would perhaps be a better word.

When she first started writing what would become her debut #novel about 20 years ago, queer #novels mostly didn’t get #published. And if they did, they were smaller releases through independent #publishers. Shoshana worked on “Girls Girls Girls” long enough to see queer novels and voices force their way into the cultural arena and zeitgeist. But even with that shift, Shoshana thought she was just muscling her way through to the end of a #manuscript, finishing the #book for the sake of finishing it.

I cannot begin to express how thrilled I am that she was wrong."

"#Rabbi Yitz Greenberg, a gifted teacher and dynamic educator, has influenced thousands of #Jewish leaders over his long #rabbinic career. #Philosopher Steven Katz claimed that “no Jewish thinker has had a greater impact on the #American Jewish community in the last two decades than Irving (Yitz) Greenberg.” Rabbi and author Joseph Telushkin described him as “one of #Judaism’s great gifts to the world,” while rabbi and activist Avi Weiss hailed him as “one of the seminal thinkers of our generation.”

Greenberg’s recently #published magnum opus, The Triumph of Life: A Narrative #Theology of Judaism, is arguably the most compelling and thought-provoking $book to grace the Jewish #bookshelf this year."
