#Ember are simply wrong about both history and the future. If the #UKGrid continues to be dominated by #Gas, #Nuclear, #BioMass etc., then all is lost in terms of the benefits of #ZeroCoal. It’s #Renewables (#Solar, #wind & #Ocean) and #BESS or nothing going forward. The #NewGrid is the only plan to #Decarbonize and #ElectrifyEverything in the #UK. The Guardian · End of an era as Britain’s last coal-fired power plant shuts downBy Jillian Ambrose

#FERC has been foot dragging on #Decarbonization for some time now. During that time, the unexpected architecture for the #NewGrid has emerged (Interconnected #Batteries). It will no longer be about #Baseload and #Generation by #FossilFuel or #ECOKiller platforms, but about 100% #Renewables charging #BESS & #LDES sites & serving load as required. Now, Get the job done. nytimes.com/2024/05/13/climate

The New York Times · New Rules to Overhaul Electric Grids Could Boost Wind and Solar PowerBy Brad Plumer

The #NYTimes remains so very clueless on everything #Energy. This piece on #batteries (#BESS, #LDES ..) is another example.
A few missing #facts to consider;

1/ The #NewGrid is an inter-connected network of batteries (including #residential & #communityenergy).
2/ Batteries charge during the day using #RenewableEnergy sources. They drain at night servicing the #grid.
3/ The #BaseloadParadigm is dead! The faster that we decommission the #OldGrid the better.
