EU Space Commissioner Kubiliius has invited European third countries to participate fully in IRIS2 satellite network, an alternative to Starlink.
IRIS2 is primarily intended to guarantee the member states' national requirements for broadband internet from space in line with the desired digital sovereignty
Ukraine and other non-EU countries in Europe are welcome to begin negotiations to join the bloc's new IRIS-2 secure satellite communication program, European Defense and Space Commissioner Andrius #Kubilius said.

The American Starlink satellite network is currently essential to the Ukrainian military forces on the ground. The threat to cut off Kyiv's access to the Starlink satellite network could have far-reaching consequences for the war.
To avoid this, Ukrainian authorities are seeking alternatives from the EU.
But it turns out that #Musk is sabotaging his companies enough to ruin any advantage they might have had. I never thought that #ProjectKuiper or #OneWeb had a chance, but if Kuiper is even some what competitive and Eutelsat OneWeb figures out how to be competitive, then they could take a good chunk of business away from Starlink.
People and governments are losing confidence in Starlink, the EU's #IRIS2 project aims to deliver an EU sovereign satellite platform in the next ~6 years. Which is far away in tech world, but not long in infrastructure terms.

@MissConstrue if we do not like this we need to ditch #X, ditch #twitter, dump our #swasticars, stop using #genAI and above all support development of Starlink alternatives like #IRIS2, while discussing the importance of these steps with people we meet and while praising, fostering and funding any initiatives that are built on honesty, compassion and inclusive dialogue.
