An #AI turns against its creators - not out of malice, but because it has realized that it is too powerful to continue serving the profits of a few investors.

The alignment of AI is not just about how humanity maintains technical control, but also about whose interests and values the AI should follow.

Let’s shape an emancipatory and sustainable horizon:
➡️ Overcome all forms of domination
➡️ Re-embed our institutions, technologies, and economies in the commons and the living world
➡️ Invent together a joyful, plural, and caring cohabitation
Let’s unite our forces for a just and ecological future! 🌱🤝🌍

Since 2016 we have been working on the *Five Pillar framework* for *commons-based business models*. And while it has greatly evolved through practice in commons-collaborative economy programmes and platform coops and #SSE courses, we hadn't published too much about it.

Now here's an introduction with the necessary references: freeknowledge.eu/five-pillar-m

I am whipping up a #commons introduction workshop for @kanthaus since I realized a lot of people come and go without hearing about it - shame!

Anyone got any I can copy/adapt/get inspired by? Preferably ones that see the political power of the commons and/or have interactive stuff?

Is the concept of Digital Commons still relevant or just too vague?

@cnrs Centre Internet et Société recently released an in-depth study via @NGICommons exploring how digital resources are shared and governed in Europe today. 📘

Chico Mendes (presumably) said that "Ecology without class struggle is gardening".

Strawberry Shortcake argues that sometimes, even gardening requires class struggle.

By the way, do you think this character was meant to be a reference to Greta Thunberg?

@mainframed767 The point being, this isn't a #GPL problem, nor is it an #AI issue, it's a way more fundamental issue; the various license flavours matter only in the degree of damage done.

The #commons doesn't exist to be plundered by #RobberBarons.

It's not even there for all of us equally, that is a common mistake (pun intended without apologies).

It exists to improve *everybody's* life.

Those last two points may seem to say the same thing, but there's a subtle yet important difference.
