Non-#US residents don't get a #ClassActions' payouts! They won't even get a cheque that they can actually deposit, much less one that'll cover the processing fees even before cheques have been dead [since 2005 (last issued chequebooks) 2007 (last checkbooks expired in validity)]…

• And even if they did that doesn't fix the problem… Which is why I think those companies should be forced to "undo the harm caused" and "rollback the changes they got #ClassAction'd for" instead (cuz in any working juristiction that's what they've to do in cases their tactic gets declared illegal)…

I'm pretty shure @Bundesverband has never heard or seen of a "Class Action Settlement Cheque" being granted to a Non-US - citizen residing in Germany.

• Also 99,9% of all settlements won't even cover the cost of mail correspondence and money transfer.

@david #ClassActions are a form of "Indulgence Sale" for #BigTech as they don't force them to undo their wrong action, bur merely pay a tiny sum to get off it.

But #SCOTUS raised the possibility that #NationwideInjunctions are still permissible in certain circumstances, including #ClassActions, in which similarly situated people sue as a group, or if they are the only way to provide "complete relief" to litigants in a particular lawsuit.

Friday's hearing will shed light on how lower courts plan to address what providing complete relief entails, said George Washington University law professor Paul Schiff Berman.

#ClassActions must follow what is known as #Rule23, which requires the plaintiffs to meet several elements including proving that the proposed #class members suffered the same #injury. The #Trump admin appealed the ruling, which White House *aide* #StephenMiller called a judge's attempt to "circumvent" #SCOTUS’ ruling by recognizing "a protected global 'class' entitled to admission into the United States."

"I think there's going to be a lot more #ClassActions," said Lee Gelernt, an attorney with the #ACLU, which brought the #asylum case.

Justice Gorsuch presses Sauer on his argument that people can bring #ClassActions instead of seeking #NationwideInjunctions by noting that it takes time to assemble a class & pursue such an approach. Sauer says there can be emergency grants of class status but adds “it is a feature not a bug” that courts only grant relief to the people who are in front of them, not to other people who did not bother to sue.
