"What political scientists describe as affective/negative polarization describes how political disagreements are increasingly existential value judgments where 'the other side' is not just wrong but evil. In such an environment, changing one’s mind, by, for example, deciding to no longer support Trump’s policies, becomes less likely."

@rbreich. #ChaunceyDeVega and #JohnGartner (#psychologist and former #professor at #JohnsHopkins) have discussed #Trump's #brain (and #Biden's) on the pages of #Salon. #Gartner has also circulated a petition -- calling Trump mentally ill - that has over 70,000 signatures from the mental health professional community.

@jeffjarvis. I canceled my #Post subscription after one too many bothsides articles. However, if you have a moment and a spare gift article, would you please post it? #Brain health, specifically #dementia, is a profoundly important issue to me (my father died of #early-onset #Alzheimer's). I post #ChaunceyDeVega's #Salon pieces, esp. those with #Dr.JohnGartner whenever he covers this issue and how #doctors and #neurologists are speaking out, sometimes. Thank you.

When #psychologist and former professor at #JohnsHopkinsUniversity, #Dr. JohnGartner, talks to #Salon's #ChaunceyDevega about #Trump's "probable #dementia," these are some of the possible, more specific diagnoses. Here is one of their conversations about what the #doctor calls #Trump's "#cognitive challenges."

In a deeply existential way, #memory is on the ballot for the candidates (see Dr. #JohnGartner's work w/ #ChaunceyDeVega in #Salon, where he distinguishes btw. #Trump's cognitive #neurodegeneration, as a function of likely brain disease, & #Biden's occasional, typical #memory issues given his age), but for the nation. If some people aren't remembering the horror of #Trump's presidency, the #media must remind them/be our memory. Also, talk to some people who do remember.

In a deeply existential way, #memory is on the ballot, not only for the candidates (see #JohnGartner's work with #ChaunceyDeVega in #Salon, where he distinguishes between #Trump's cognitive #neurodegeneration, as a function of likely brain disease, and #Biden's occasional, typical #memory issues given his age), but for the nation. If some people aren't remembering the cruelty & awfulness of #Trump's presidency, the #media must remind them/be our memory. Also, talk to some people who do remember.

#ChaunceyDeVega & #JohnGartner on Trump's cognitive deterioration. "Any reasonable person can see that something is wrong with Donald #Trump’s behavior. Many Americans have direct experience w/relatives, friends, & other people they care about who have been or are afflicted w/some type of brain disease re: to aging. For the American news media & other gatekeepers & agenda-setters to deny the obvious about Donald Trump is a willful decision to ignore the facts & reality."
