#JohnsHopkins laying off more than 2,000 workers after dramatic cut in USAID funding

“This is a difficult day for our entire community. The termination of more than $800 million in #USAID funding is now forcing us to wind down critical work here in Baltimore and internationally,” the Maryland-based university said, adding that it was proud of the work its employees have done “to care for mothers and infants, fight disease, provide clean drinking water, and advance countless other critical, life-saving efforts around the world.”

Has anyone found an #alt#cdc account publishing the mortality and morbidity reports paused yesterday (for the first time since 1960)?

How can we support workers at the #cdc to keep publishing? And doing external comms? Eventually you will lose your job anyway, folks.

Who is surveilling them?

Are any #publichealth #state agencies protesting what is happening at #cdc and #nih? #johnshopkins? #bloomberg?

How about #insurance companies? How do they assess risks without data?

@kkarhan Mehr Auskunft taete mich shon interesieren. Obwohl, ich ihm nicht sympathisch finde, ich glaube nicht dass Matthew Greene absichtig was falsch gemacht haette. Er arbeitet bei #JohnsHopkins mit viele fragwuerdige verbindungen, aber er war immer mehr kritisch denen gegenuber. Auch das konzept #givware ist mir fremd.

#monero und #zcash sind beide teilweise Universitaets Projekte.

A dear friend is having a family health crisis, with relatives coming from hundreds of miles away to be at the bedside of the family patriarch.

I expect to get asked to translate from medical, to give explanations and orientation. But no -- today's first text was "at least this hospital system has mandatory ."

So thanks to , and to any other hospitals that are protecting their patients and their communities with sensible mask policies.
