The prompt is Release

Afro Celt Sound System, “Volume 2: Release” 1999

#AfroCeltSoundSystem is a collective of Celtic and African musicians formed in 1995, using traditional instruments from their respective ethnic homelands married with modern electronics, originally releasing records on #PeterGabriel’s #RealWorldRecords.

I don’t recall their first album making much of a splash, but this, their second, was everywhere for a minute, rising above the sea of #WorldMusic / #NewAge soup that sloshed about in the #90s, on the wings of #SineadOConnor's unmistakeable strong yet delicate vocals on the title track.

I've been really liking the latest album by the Afro Celt Sound System, Ova, released last month.

It's their last album with founder Simon Emmerson, who sadly passed away earlier this year. If you like a modern fusion of African and Celtic sounds, check it out. This album leans more African than Celtic and I reckon it's one of their best.

At The Barrier · Afro Celt Sound System - Ova: Album Review – At The Barrier"A fulfilment of the late Simon Emmerson's life and work". The words of Afro Celt Sound System and indisputably the truth.

In a double feature first, both @Dio_Senrab and I wrote about season 4 of The Boys for Quarantine Control on @damagecontrolblog. We were in agreement, but differed on how much we liked the overt political satire. CWTyger shared "Go on Through" by Afro Celt Sound System.

Afro Celt Sound System - Release (featuring Sinéad O’Connor) [1996]

RIP Sinéad.

Don't argue amongst yourselves
Because of the loss of me
I'm sitting amongst yourselves
Don't think you can't see me
Don't argue amongst yourselves
Because of the loss of me
I haven't gone anywhere
But out of my body
Reach out and you'll touch me
Make effort to speak to me
Call out and you'll hear me
Be happy for me
