Forever Changes
2012 Europe Reissue
I’ve never owned a copy of this essential work of #art that didn’t have tons of surface noise, skips, or pops and clicks.
So, when I saw this reissue today in the used bin in MINT condition, I was very happy.
This sounds incredible; fully analog, with that #60s brand stereo: drums hard panned left, guitars hard right, with wonderful mastering.
Just a full, deep sounding press.

Elvis Presley's "Stuck On You" hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 on April 25, 1960 and spent four weeks at the top of the chart.

Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
Step out of line, the men come and take you away.

Ebenezer Obey (born in April 1942), aka Chief or Chief Commander, began his professional career in the mid-1950s after moving to Lagos. After tutelage under Fatai Rolling-Dollar‘s band, he formed a band called The International Brothers in 1964, playing highlife–jùjú fusion. [...]
Rudy, A Message to You
First released in 1967 on R&B Records’ Ska Beat label, the recording was acquired by Trojan Records in 1971 and later famously influenced the British Ska revivalists, the Specials, who enjoyed significant UK chart action in 1979 with their version of the song “A Message to You Rudy”. […]

Beggars Banquet
Canada Reissue
[London Sunrise labels]
A stone cold classic for last spin of the night.
My second favorite Stones album, but it contains my favorite RS song of all time in the closer “Salt Of The Earth”.
Just a STELLAR sounding pressing as well. Really killer separation and punchy bass.
JOHN LEE HOOKER
It Serve You Right To Suffer
1966 U.S. stereo pressing
Last night, while groggily stumbling around half asleep, I stubbed my toe on our brick fireplace and fractured my foot.
I’m black, blue, swollen and miserable; in huge amounts of pain, so I figured some blues would be appropriate today while I’m laid up.
Maybe it does serve me right.
Who knows…

This week's #JukeboxFridayNight theme is #HitAndMiss. There were multiple options for this theme, I chose "songs that were hits when covered but misses for the original artist".
Aretha Franklin's sister Erma was the first to record this tune later made famous by Janis Joplin. A miss on the charts comparatively, but definitely not a miss otherwise.

Rahsaan Roland Kirk – The Inflated Tear
Rahsaan Roland Kirk, live at the Fourth Mezinarodni Jazz Festival, Prague, October 19, 1967. He plays multiple instruments, saxophones, at the same time, his usual “trademark”.
Rahsaan Roland Kirk (1935 – 1977) was an American jazz multi-instrumentalist who played tenor saxophone, flute, and many other instruments. He was renowned for his onstage vitality, during which […]

THE BEACH BOYS
Smiley Smile
1967 Canada MONO pressing
Sometimes, I just get in the mood for some of Brian Wilson’s genius.
It’s so wildly disjointed and kinda lo-fi and bizarre, it’s got a lot of charm, despite tons of people hating it.
Cmon, dudes.
It’s Brian Wilson at his most deranged.

You know that I love you
And I'm not the stealing kind
But I'm faced with heartaches
At love's cheating line
Don't let me cross over
Love's cheating line
You belong to another
And could never be mine.
Don't Let Me Cross Over
