LOVE
Forever Changes
2012 Europe Reissue

I’ve never owned a copy of this essential work of #art that didn’t have tons of surface noise, skips, or pops and clicks.

So, when I saw this reissue today in the used bin in MINT condition, I was very happy.
This sounds incredible; fully analog, with that #60s brand stereo: drums hard panned left, guitars hard right, with wonderful mastering.
Just a full, deep sounding press.

JOHN LEE HOOKER
It Serve You Right To Suffer
1966 U.S. stereo pressing

Last night, while groggily stumbling around half asleep, I stubbed my toe on our brick fireplace and fractured my foot.
I’m black, blue, swollen and miserable; in huge amounts of pain, so I figured some blues would be appropriate today while I’m laid up.

Maybe it does serve me right. 😂
Who knows…

This week's #JukeboxFridayNight theme is #HitAndMiss. There were multiple options for this theme, I chose "songs that were hits when covered but misses for the original artist".

Aretha Franklin's sister Erma was the first to record this tune later made famous by Janis Joplin. A miss on the charts comparatively, but definitely not a miss otherwise.

Rahsaan Roland Kirk – The Inflated Tear

Rahsaan Roland Kirk, live at the Fourth Mezinarodni Jazz Festival, Prague, October 19, 1967. He plays multiple instruments, saxophones, at the same time, his usual “trademark”.
