#RankedChoiceVoting

This is exciting. Folks in #venturacounty are gathering signatures to bring ranked choice AND PROPORTIONAL ranked choice voting to their local elections.

Awareness of #proportionalrepresentation is growing in the U.S. right along with frustration about our polarized calcified dysfunctional politics.

I think we're going to see more local governments adopting proportional representation (Albany CA already has it for their city council election. Portland OR just adopted it.) Then the state level (that's where ProRep comes in!) Then the U.S. (Fair Representation Act). Then the WORLD HA HA HA HA HA!

Just kidding most of the world already uses PR for their elections.

URGENT ACTION ITEM!: Visit TinyURL.com/SupportSB2004 or click the 🔗 in bio to send a pre-written message to your State Senator asking them to support SB2004 to explicitly allow ranked choice voting in local elections in Illinois!

Take 60 secs to contact your Senator to support RCV in IL! 3 cities have passed legally binding RCV referenda in IL, but the State must act NOW before the legislative session ends to ensure that they are implemented.

When we think of Congress being a check on the president, what we forget is that the founders didn't envision a political party duopoly. That's what makes our system so much weaker than it should be. A president dominates their party and can thus count on many in that body choosing to retain a key base of political support over challenging them to do what they think is right. FFV #RankedChoiceVoting would do so much to allow electeds to put the people's interests first and win reelection. #uspol

Last month, the Chicago Board of Elections polled Chicago residents about ranked choice voting. 71% of respondents supported implementing RCV for Chicago elections! Did you know: We're lobbying City Council to put a binding ranked choice voting referendum on Chicago's ballot in April 2026? Let's get more choices, Chicago!

Do you want to improve democracy in the US?

In Michigan, the swingiest of swing states, this volunteer group is working to enact ranked choice voting. It will give voters more choices and help politicians be more accountable to voters.

They are a grassroots effort and could use our help. Printing petitions, lawyers for legal review, and even postage is expensive!

A discussion about making lefty change in America. With the Dems or without them etc. I liked a lot of what #VivekChibber said, especially about using the Dems to break open the system to make other options more viable like #RankedChoiceVoting. But I don't see them letting that happen. #BadFaithPod

I still think we must focus on the "attention being controlled by the wealthy" problem. It's true in the mainstream but now also via corporate algos on social media.

@JuanWild
It really always comes down to "money", and as long as we allow money to drive our politics, nothing will ever change.

We can't (however) simply say "No private funding of elections". Does every bad candidate get as much funding as everyone else?

THE FIRST THING is to make #RankedChoiceVoting the law of the land (not just elections, but even in Congress.)

This would greatly mitigate the influence of BigMoney in politics, No more spoilers, and END the 2-party system.
