Good Morning, all

What *is* the French for "Bowling Green Massacre"...?

James O'Brien on #LBC is concerned about the toxic effect of disinformation on social media in France.

Talking about toxic disinformation, who agrees with Nigel Farage that we provoked Putin to invade Ukraine? Presumably the same way we provoked Vlad to unleash his GRU goons to murder Briton Dawn Sturgess with Novichok in Salisbury?

As to those who carp at paying an extra £3,000 on top of the average £15,000 a place at a public school costs per annum (more of course if the fees are higher) it is nowt more than special pleading (as independent school fees have gone up more than inflation over recent years).

Be positive. Don't look at it as paying an extra £3k to get your child educated. Look at it as getting your child educated at a school closer to home and *saving* £15k a year...

Interesting discussion on James O'Brien's show on #LBC on the imposition of VAT on public school fees.

Yes, parents who pay for private education are seeking unfair advantage for their little darlings but even O'Brien fails to ask the question why should those who pay taxes but can't otherwise afford the average £15k pa in fees subsidise those who do go private?

The exemption from VAT *is* a subsidy by the poor masses of the better-off and super-rich.

The Tory commentator, Lord Someone-or-other, on BBC R4 #WatO just said "Rishi,, has turned the economy around... He's cut the cost of living".

He wrong on both counts, and shows he's economically illiterate.

Sunak could claim (erroneously) to have cut inflation. But prices - that is, the cost of living - are still rising. Just not as quickly as they were before.

And inflation is the responsibility of the (notionally independent) Bank of England.

Er,... Foreign Secretary

France and USA were our Allies in conducting the D-Day Landings (as were the Canadians, and exiles from many overrun European countries). Our former adversaries, the Germans, are also now our allies in NATO.

Highly disrespectful of our Second-Past-The-Post Prime Minister Rishi Sunak (a Bregziteer) to play truant.

To shun the meeting of 'International Leaders' at the D-Day commemoration was a serious error of judgement by our Second-Past-The-Post Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, #AnyAnswers.

And the judgement of a party leader campaigning to hold our nuclear codes is important.

But it will be good to know that if, in another error of judgement, Sunak were to fire our nuclear weapons - he'll happily and quickly apologise after the mushroom clouds have cleared.

Good Morning, all

Natalie who? Natalie Elfick?

bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-689

Dunno. How do you spell Elphicke?

Is it C-H-A-N-C-E-R?

Or is it C-A-R-P-E-T-B-A-G-G-E-R?

In other news, 'Rat Leaving Sinking Ship Is A Rat.'

One wonders, is it Natalie or is it Sir Keir who is experiencing the Damascene conversion?

BBC NewsNatalie Elphicke: Tory MP defects to Labour with attack on Rishi SunakThe MP for Dover says the Conservatives "have become a byword for incompetence and division".

Very poor attended #PMQs today.

And I'm not sure the Conservative Party endeared itself more to voters by exhorting in almost every #PMQ they asked, and our Second-Past-The-Post PM's responses that we go out on Thursday and vote Conservative at tomorrow's council, mayoral and PCC elections.

(And I still have had no answer from the Nastiz to my question: why did the Tories introduce the post of Police *And* Crime Commissioner?)

It has been reported that those who have been unable to earn a wage for longer than two years are *five times* more likely to suffer from depression than the general population.

The Nastiz want to take away even the minimal support they now get (from first-hand experience it's not easy to live on benefits) as they are already depressed. That's really going to help them, isn't it...

The Tories are despicable. Vote for anyone except a Conservative on Thursday.

#LBC#Wato#C4News

Is it envy or zero empathy that the Nastiz are tapping for votes with their threat to remove disability benefits for people with depression or anxiety.

Dunno but it's also disingenuity - the majority of people are signed off because they have physical disabilities (not that mental disabilities are less deserving of support). The depression and anxiety are symptoms of the hopelessness and insecurity they feel not being able to earn a wage.

At the fag-end of #PMQs, the DPM Oliver Dowden boasts that "it was *this* government that legalised same-sex marriage..." in response to a plea from Labour to lift "the gay tax" that prices gay couples out of obtaining IVF to start their family.

Strange how Nastiz are sometimes so ready to identify all of the past 14 years of Tory rule as one seamless regime when on many other occasions (such as the Kamekwazi budget or Brexit) that's nowt to do with *this* Tory govt.

Andrew Mitchell, Baron Cameron of Greensill's Ambassador to the House of Commons, defended Sunak's Safety of Rwanda Bill on #R4Today by saying "looking at the statistics, Kigali is arguably safer than London."

Nice one, Mr Mitchell. Hardly the stirring endorsement of 14 years of Conservative rule over the Untied Kingdom we would expect from a senior Tory patrician and one of the Nastiz' key government ministers...
