So there are a lot of people on my timeline upset now that the Tories did what they said they would do, and ban private clinics from giving out puberty blockers to trans kids, and ring-fencing the NHS England report for them.

And I agree it is very conniving for Victoria Atkins to put it to Parliament with everyone already at the door, but that is just what a 'politician' is and does.

And so it begins; the BMA Junior Doctors leadership has proposed a multi-year 35% pay uplift would end the strike.... while #VictoriaAtkins has said that if the strike is ended the Govt. will 'look' to enter (new) negotiations.

So, at the moment pretty distant from each other, and once again there will be battle (in the media) to be seen as the 'reasonable' side... no great stretch for the doctors, but perhaps a little more challenging for the #Tories?

Here's an interview with the new Chief Inspector of #OFSTED - I'll leave you to draw your own conclusions about whether he is a welcome new broom or mistaken about his own organisation's practice(s).

To be fair to him, we need to wait to see how this plays out... but given the short period it took from #VictoriaAtkins to go from potentially bringing a shift in Govt. #education policy & her swift return to previous Ed.Sec's form, we may not have long to wait to find out!

Q. is #VictoriaAtkins adopting there hard-ball position on #Doctors strikes of her own volition or has she been nobled by #RishiSunak & #JeremyHunt.

I ask, not because I think #women have no agency in #politics but because when she came into post she started with some (quasi) sensible pronouncements.... but now seems either to have changed her mind or been told to.

Of course, as we know, the #Tories want to cripple the #NHS so the resumption of hard-ball non-negotiations is no real surprise!

#Doctors have started a three-day walk-out today, in their ongoing dispute over pay.

Initial hopes that #VictoriaAtkins might bring calm & sense where #SteveBarclay has merely inflamed the dispute have now been dashed... so, we're back with a dispute that will certainly worsen (in the sort term) the #NHScrisis.

Biut as always, lets be clear; this is not 'junior' Doctors fault, they have been backed into a corner by a #Tory govt. who have been defunding the NHS to engineer this very crisis!

Oh dear, after a hopeful start #VictoriaAtkins seems to have fallen at the first hurdle, as #JuniorDoctors announce another nine days of strikes over the next eight weeks due negotiations breaking down (again).

The #NHS crisis is about to enter a even more difficult winter phase & continuing to goad #doctors into strike action is dong no-one any favours.

I do wonder though whether Atkins room to manoeuvre in negotiations is being constrained by #tory forces elsewhere (No.10?)

Its increasingly clear that #VictoriaAtkins is taking a pretty different approach to striking #doctors from here predecessor #SteveBarlclay.... she talks of 'respecting' Junior Doctors & finding their representatives 'constructive'; Barlcay raved on about a militant tendency in the BMA.

Clearly, the #Tories have decided demonising #NHS doctors has not played as well for them as they'd hoped... now its the charm track.

But of course the underlying defunding wrecking logic remains the same!

Hmmm... so only a couple of weeks after (Hartman) #SteveBarclay was replaced as #Health Secretary, #VictoriaAtkins has helped broker a deal that the BMA will put to #consultants, to end their ongoing series of #strikes.

It seems pretty clear that Barclay was the problem with reaching a resolution, which also reinforces the notion that the #NHScrisis has been engineered by the #Tories, and is now being ended as they see mileage in ending the deadlock.... game playing with people's health!

Meanwhile Lincolnshire MP, Victoria Atkins, appointed as the new Health Secretary is married to the MD of British Sugar. No conflict of interest there, so.
