Oh my goodness, Assistive Technology is so expensive! I’ve been mainstream for over a decade – Android, Audible, iPhone, Kindle, Meta Ray-Ban, and NVDA! I just visited SightAndSound.co.uk to check the price of Envision glasses and was shocked to see how much what seemed like ‘very basic’ assistive technology costs in 2024.
For example:
- Envision Glasses Home Edition: £2,758.80
- OrCam MyEye Pro: £3,700.00
Two things are very clear to me: The revolution in Access Technology that has occurred over the past twenty years still has a LONG way to go.
Those people going on and on about the cost of Glidance ($1,049 + $20/month subscription) need to go online and have a look at what specialist assistive technology costs!
