@Alex_Verbeek ... it's #UsThePeople, too. Majorities are simply not going to vote for a party telling them to stop eating meat, stop flying around the globe, and stop subsidies for the #OilAndGasIndustry so gas at the pump will become more expensive... At least in democracies politicians must win votes to govern.
We are were we are, because this is what the majority of people wanted .. whether it's #Christofascism or #Speedlimits on the Autobahn... Accountability starts with everyone of us! #WeAreIt

The oil and gas industry is increasingly dependent on the manufacture of plastics — and petrochemical lobbyists have endorsed a bill to roll back regulation and increase government assistance. Even though the bill itself is a legislative longshot, federal agencies under Donald Trump could adopt some of its most extreme provisions without congressional approval, Daniel Rosenberg, director of federal toxics policy at the Natural Resources Defense Council told @ProPublica.

@ianRobinson destruction everywhere and the #OilAndGasIndustry is nowhere to be seen ... Neither are corporations that profit from the causes or from the results.
The only reliable source of support is the federal government. That's why paying taxes is patriotic and voting for science based governments is so important. Don't think that banning books or the mentioning of "gay" or "climate change" is going to help anyone survive or recover from the next disaster 🙏 and neither does prayers, by the way!

As the #ESRIUC2024 continues this week in San Diego, and the #greenwashing goes full throttle in the plenary session, let's pause to remember that #ESRI partners with the #OilAndGasIndustry and enables all sorts of climate crimes.

Here is the #Petrofuture map of San Diego, 66m sea level rise on a vintage #ShellOil gas station map.

The #IPCC has estimated that if all the ice caps melt, the resulting rise in sea levels would be 66 meters. This is the level of sea rise I show in the map.

@ABBFossilFuels the book "Fire Weather" by John Vaillant also has a great introduction what hellish nightmare #TarSand oil production is. My understanding is that it basically uses millions of gallons of water and burns 1000s of cubic ft of fossil fuel to get a comparably tiny amount of oil and leaves toxic sludge and contaminated water behind. This only works commercially because the #OilAndGasIndustry can use the environment as free dumpster for their poisonous waste and dirt cheap gas prices.
The book as shows what disastrous consequences #ClimateBreakDown has that is fuelled by #oilsands and the continued use of #FossilFuels.

Until recently, the headquarters of #Chevron was in San Francisco, which makes this #petrofuture map particularly relevant, especially given the US Supreme Court's particularly corrupt ruling today.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has estimated that if all the ice caps melt, the resulting rise in sea levels would be 66 meters. This is the level of sea rise I show in the map.
