UI frameworks have regressed so much.
I'm not saying we need to go back to Tiger's Aqua but color, depth, and details like outlines and gradients help distinguish what is something the user can interact with.
Added Graphite styling which corresponds to the System Accent Color if it is Graphite as well as the muted look for when the window isn't the main window... as well as the more appropriate sorting indicator from the time.

Even the website is so, so cute
So Aqua.

These are so, so amazing! Plus, if you have the new MacBook Air in Sky Blue, the “Ice (Dark)” variant pairs so well with it!
Also, I can't believe #MacOSXTiger is 20 years old this month Obsessing over timeless design from the early 2000s is wiiiiiiild!
But honestly, @keir, I'm obsessed.

iChat AV walked so that FaceTime could RUN!
Ooooofff… look at those sweet, sweet animations as people enter or exit a video chat. I miss fun, whimsical Apple!
I can't seem to find this video "Inside Tiger" anywhere online... Has anyone recall seeing it before?
But also just look how beautiful this all looks. That Chat icon especially!!!
Subtle shades of light gray are far better than the blinding white of today... all of this just looks so elegant.
Aquafox: Ein moderner Browser für alte PowerPC Macs mit Tiger und Leopard

Just in case anyone was wondering how a PowerPC Mac reacts to Apple Silicon... surprisingly well. macOS 10.4 sees some code marked as "cputype 16777228 cpusubtype 0", and whatever that is, it ignores it.
Yes, I've managed to compile code for new Apple Silicon, a decade's worth of Intel CPUs, and 30-year-old PowerPC processors, and stick them all into the same file. In theory, any version of macOS ever written could run my dumb little app.
POV: You're updating your Mac OS X Tiger machine and you're able to get updates for apps individually rather than having to wait for a whole ass OS point-release update.
Okay... I've gotten a good amount of messages that you like QuickTune but you don't like the brushed metal theme from Mac OS X Tiger…
First of all, how DARE you? Brushed Metal was GORGEOUS!!!
Second... fiiiiiiiiiiiine. * Coming Soon * there will be an update where you can change the theme to the QuickTime 7 Leopard UI. Gone are the brushed metal and glassy effects when enabled.
Here's a quick glance at what it will look like:
The DVD Player controller in Mac OS X Tiger was so damn cute! I loved the little side drawer.
One of the betas of #MacOSXTiger had Aqua/Graphite end caps on the menu bar. I suppose it was to emphasize/highlight the addition of Spotlight in Tiger but was balanced by making the Apple logo also have the end-cap look.
I couldn’t find the standard #Aqua version but here it is in Graphite with the Server version of Tiger. A friend brought it up and reminded me of this. Never made it to the final public initial release of Tiger but does look interesting.
Anyone I know got to try it?

We over here install Tiger in QEMU
In modern #macOS toolbars, you can't click on the label to activate the button. So you're confined to a much smaller hit target to click the toolbar button.
I tested in Mac OS X Tiger, and sure enough, you can also click the text label.
The 19 year old OS is more usable.

We used to be a proper functioning society…
Look at how the window resizing also dynamically resizes the Source List’s row items.
Look at the gorgeous source list icons with color and detail…
We used to have it all…
@tuomas_h It really was gorgeous to look at! Pure candy!
Also, take a look at it in various other states:
1. Normal
2. Selected
3. Not main window
Not gonna lie, I like the look of it when the item is selected (2nd picture) a lot too.
