Irv Gotti, the music producer and founder of Murder Inc. Records, has died at age 54. @THR says that the cause of death has not been announced, but Gotti is known to have suffered a number of strokes in recent years, as well as diabetes-related issues. Here's their tribute to the man that signed DMX, Jay-Z and Ja Rule, worked with Ashanti and Jennifer Lopez, and created BET's "Tales," a show that blends hip-hop and storytelling. Def Jam Recordings posted about him on social media, saying: "His creative genius and unwavering dedication to the culture birthed countless hits, defining an era of music that continues to resonate with fans worldwide."
