July #BoardGame plays were a little out of the ordinary. We had our beach vacation with the extended family so we played a lot of #CodeNames #Disney and #TicketToRide with them. I also had #FinalGirl set up on a side table in my office and just played a few turns through out the days as I could. And of course, #TheAnarchy was heavily played, being my newest purchase.

Also, #UnconsciousMind vids dropping this weekend!

In the #Codenames app, you get to progress through various offices, starting with a downtown apartment. Later, one of them features someone dusting where there are no crops.

I love this game. #Codenames meets #Mastermind in a coop game.

We played #BoardGames online with the #StPGameNight monthly (actually twice monthly) community game night crew.

It is hard to believe that this gathering has been meeting each month for over a decade. They are some of the best friends that I have ever had. It's nice to see them and hang out regularly.

We played #JustOne, a couple of games of #NoThanks, #7WondersArchitects, and a couple of rounds of #Codenames.

My wife and I have been hosting monthly online #boardgame meetups with my extended family for three years now.

It's fun and has been a great way to get to know some of my extended family than I ever have before.

Often we play games like the excellent #Codenames web adaptation, but I'm always looking for new stuff.

What #boardgames and #partygames have you found that either have a great online adaptation or are physical games that work well over #Zoom?

I am finally enjoying #Codenames more every time I play it.

That's probably because it's a great game and we played it wrong the first few times. It turns out if you just try to guess 1 word per round, the game is kind of boring.

The first time you successfully steal a victory with a final round connecting 3+ words it pretty much guarantees regular play sessions.

That being said. I still can't figure out a word to make someone guess Centaur without guessing Unicorn. #tabletop #boardgames

Last night the #StPGameNight group got together online and played #BoardGames including #NoThanks, #IncanGold, #CodeNames, and #FishBowl (aka #Celebrity, aka #TimesUp). It is always fun hanging out with this group of friends. We shared some stories, told a lot of jokes, and enjoyed each other's company; the most important parts of every #GameNight.

A fantastic day playing board games in person with @Gareth_JS and friends. Warming up with Codenames, we moved onto Wingspan and finally Scythe (which I won). Playing games solo and with my 9yo is great, but it is nice sometimes to play with other adults! (with snacks).

Game 2 of 3 for our #BoardGames group last night was #Codenames. It felt like a great Christmas get-together game. This photo was from the first game, where my team came unstuck on the clue “hoax” and realised we were misaligned on our idea of conspiracy theories (the code master was adamant the clue referred to “Hollywood”). I had a great moment in the second game when I gambled a clue for 3 that ended up stealing the game for us. Brilliant fun.

I love the #Christmas tradition of getting together over #BoardGames. It’s a shame that by and large the big shops have uninspired offerings, so here are my two recommendations:

#CodeNames: perfect for a large gathering of people. People can get as involved as they want with guessing the clues, and setting the clues is harder than it looks.

#Pandemic: a co-operative game that’s perfect for quiet family afternoons between Christmas and New Year.
