Was recently giving this rather odd record, which is like music for "those kids with their rock'n'roll" from middle-aged folks - full of those choral oohs and aahs that MOR pop was filled with in the 50s/60s.
First time I listened to this I decided to toss it, but I kept thinking, it's Chet Atkins, it has to have some intrinsic value. So I gave it another chance, and you know, it's got some pretty decent numbers.
Still, weird album.
"Walk, Don't Run" is an instrumental composition written and originally recorded by #jazz guitarist #JohnnySmith in 1954, which achieved worldwide fame when #TheVentures recorded a #coverVersion in 1960. It was adapted and re-recorded by #ChetAtkins in 1956, and was a track on the LP Hi-Fi In Focus. This #arrangement was the inspiration for the version by The Ventures in 1960 (though the Ventures' arrangement is recognizably different from Atkins' #fingerpickedStyle).
