Is it time to ditch #SickNote requirements? Doctors and patients are tired of them | CBC Radio https://www.cbc.ca/radio/whitecoat/the-high-cost-of-sick-notes-1.7093843 https://www.cbc.ca/radio/whitecoat/the-high-cost-of-sick-notes-1.7093843?cmp=rss “Patients hate having to ask for them. Doctors don't like writing them. But some employers across the country still demand employees get a sick note in order to stay at home for one or more days
They argue the notes shouldn't be required for minor illnesses, and have for years done little more than tie up an already overloaded health-care system.”
@auscandoc I'm a medical provider myself, and my employer still insists I waste everyone's time by going to my own medical provider for a sick note I have always thought it was ridiculous for anyone to be required to get one, though...like, maybe just believe your employees when they say they're sick???
@thewordsaremaps That was pretty much my most recent case.
Essentially they are asking for a “free” notary (as they are counting in our “professional courtesy” to not charge a colleague.
In our EMR we have a WOV (waste of visit) note. “X was sick but is now better. However their employer insisted they obtain this note”.
@auscandoc I'm gonna start using that!
