It isn't a coincidence that more protestors are wearing high quality KN95 or N95 masks these days. For years COVID safe advocates and mask blocs, who are connected to diverse organizing groups, have worked hard to educate allies and provide communities with free respirator masks.
I kind of doubt that this is the chief reason. Considering the high-tech face-recognition software available these days, I would not want to be identifiable in these protest for eternity either.
#WearAMask - it keeps you safe on different levels ;)
could be both? If you have a situation where its not that uncommon to wear a mask, it makes sense to take advantage of this..
Excatly my point. - I just doubt that #Covid is the #1 reason (even for me, it wouldn't be, as it is in open-air, incidences are relatively low and the current variants are rather not "deadly" for most.)--But I'd recommend wearing a mask for health reasons with this many people, too.
ALSO @luckytran good time to remind everybody that cops became one of the primary vectors of #COVID19 in 2020 and it's the reason why so many cops died in the past 4 years.
"COVID was the leading cause of law enforcement deaths in 2022 for 3rd year in a row: Report - ABC News"

being unmasked around cops is an actual #health risk.
@luckytran I noticed that too. It surprised me. Maybe there’s hope for the world.
