@gregggonsalves I quit threads and posted that I did linking to my other places the day before this happened. Just the new member of the board and the anti developer way they built the API was enough for me, but this would have made me leave also.

I deleted my FB account years ago and have never regretted it. You’re right, Zuckerberg, Bezos and Tim Cook are all a disgusting bunch af butt kissers.
@gregggonsalves I quit Facebook years ago and never joined Threads. Today's announcement has provided me with the final push I needed to delete my (rarely used) Instagram account though.
Sadly I don't think I can be fully "Meta-free" as -- for various reasons -- I currently don't have much of a choice when it comes to WhatsApp.
does the fedi have fact checking? I get wanting to avoid #meta and I want everyone on fedi but this isn't the reason I'd use.

@gregggonsalves I know I should get rid of it, but it’s the only way I have to promote music gigs and projects. Nothing else is available yet, and while I love Fedi, it’s not (yet) a targeted promotional tool. We are in a transitional time right now, and no other platforms have reared up to take Meta’s place. I’m stuck.

P.S. Make sure you delete and not just deactivate. Deactivate just puts it on hold and saves everything.

FB doesn't have to do this, they're choosing to. No reason to give them the benefit of the doubt.
@IcyBee @gregggonsalves oh good lord what did I do to deserve that video, like getting rickrolled but worse. Assuming courts still exist & congress still exists, he'd have to get any of that actually enacted into a law that'd stand the test of scrutiny. That's just 6 minutes of "Dear staff, the admins that banned me were very unfair and here's how I would run your site if you make me admin instead..." No one actually has to do what the guy says.

Never been drawn into Threads, do occasionally visit Facebook and Instagram for special interest groups though. Will have to reassess the importance of these.
