Paul Krugman on leaving the @nytimes
“I’ve always been very, very lightly edited on the column,” he said. “And that stopped being the case. The editing became extremely intrusive. It was very much toning down of my voice, toning down of the feel, and a lot of pressure for what I considered false equivalence.” And, increasingly, attempts “to dictate the subject.”
Wow. More damning evidence of the untrustworthiness of The New York Times, whose motto truly ought to be, "All The Narratives That Are Fit To Print."
Nothing gets past the editors unless it conforms to a particular Times' narrative they're pushing (or being told/paid/encouraged to push).
@cbarbermd Wow, that’s really sad! But, good for him!
The Crap Times
I hope he will either start a podcast on YouTube, or join Dan Rather, Jen Rubin, and so many other writers on Substack.
