If it’s not stated already, I’ll just put this out into the mastodon sphere - we should care about long COVID and do more to investigate it
I support masking. Like. A lot. And vaccinations.
best way to protect yourself is not get infected in the first place
good public health puts equity as the core mission
COVID is serious and still ongoing
@Drneuro All of
this
Thank you for saying it
@Drneuro And wash your hands!!!
@Drneuro although not mandatory i’m still testing regularly and wearing a mask as I work with vulnerable people. I also don’t want to catch it again myself having been quite poorly when I had it in March despite being triple vaccinated at the time. I had my booster a few weeks ago and am grateful I was entitled to have one
(boost with CW) coronavirus, stand up
@Drneuro Wholeheartedly agree. Have Close family with serious conditions and of course as a Senior I feel vulnerable too. We are not doing enough. We are not doing the bare minimum. There is enough research regarding Long Covid that indicates a future Public Health crisis.
@Drneuro thank you. I have to say many of your Neurology colleagues in the UK DGAF about LC. The research is really accumulating now tho, CNS and PNS dysregulation, all potentially treatable yet NOPE.
@Drneuro YES, PLEASE! My wife and I have been unemployed with Long COVID since November of 2020 and NOBODY seems to care!
@RockyC I’m sorry for this and you’re not alone. Many have been occupationally displaced due to long COVID. You all deserve support
@Drneuro I don't get these people. I've never heard you veer from this messaging.
@longcovid some (especially those that don’t follow me) will take my bird app posts and twist them into a nasty narrative that I am minimizing. Bad info is still bad info. We can support long COVID by getting better data.
@Drneuro I have words for them. Too many for a bird app message. I've had enough of people. They made tent lady mad...
How are you collecting the data for long covid? What's the best way to assess your pt and support them in this?
@Drneuro
They could maybe prove a little more support through actions.
@Drneuro Thank you for saying all of this. It's been incredibly disheartening to see such a huge backslide not just in protecting our communities from COVID, but all diseases. I feel like we've backslid into even worse toxic individualism.
@JayHPharmD We can always do better and remind the public (and ourselves) that we're fighting this as a community and should continue pushing for improvements. Very unfortunate that many of us need to put these reminders of what's still at stake.
