Hello Fedi friends,
I can't believe I missed the 200 day anniversary of my self-hosting journey. Life got in the way. I was in Como enjoying some family time and listening to the local philarmonic orchestra, so I cannot complain.
I'm thinking of changing things around here and publishing "my adventures in self-hosting" posts on my website first and syndicating them here. You know, the POSSE method and all, inspired by the great @molly0xfff@hachyderm.io.
This is by all means not a criticism of any Fediverse or social media platform.
It's just that I find it more empowering to have published content in a place where it is easily searchable... and it's not really the case here or anywhere else.
Social media glorify the present but I love the ability to go back in time to see what I was up to 6 months, a year or 5 years ago.
As a mom with aging parents, the idea of legacy is always front and center in my mind. I wanna build something that my daughter, when is older, could easily read, if she so chooses. But I'm also thinking of fellow newbies who are curious about self-hosting... having my self-hosting posts in a more organized space could definitely help others.
So this may be the last longform post I publish here natively. Future ones will be shared here of course, but will live on my website.
Anyway, it's time for my Monday routine: #YunoHost manual backup.

@bookish I had set up #Wallabag a while ago, which is easy to #selfhost with #YunoHost and I believe there are a bunch of public instances as well 
I use #Pocket for syncing articles to my #Kobo, and while it's nothing near the nicely streamlined interface Kobo had going, there is #wallabako which lets me download Wallabag articles as ePub files for reading. I'm still hoping for an official replacement but I suppose something is better than nothing

Quant aux choix des dons, chaque salarié⋅e du 24ème a disposé de 14 tranches de 24€ à répartir aux projets libres de son choix. Ensuite, nous les avons mis en commun pour se répartir les paiements redondant. Une méthode bien efficace : en moins d'une demi journée, nous avons pu choisir et aider 30 projets.

My #yunohost died mid update and now it just keeps giving me this read-only nonsense.
If anyone's got any suggestions, I'd gladly hear them.

J'ai installé une app (une seule), et quand je veux lui ajouter un chemin genre https://mondomaine.tld/monapp, il prend pas le chemin, et a donc redirigé https://mondomaine.tld vers mon app.
Ça parle à quelqu'un ? J'ai pas encore creusé, j'aurai pas le temps cet après-midi, mais je demande au cas où ;)

Good morning Fedi friends!
This #GoToSocial account is officially back to posting about... self-hosting from the POV of a newbie / non-dev.
This morning I hit a new little milestone: I FINALLY installed #NextCloud on my VPS (thank you #YunoHost).
I'm getting ready to share short clips of my Fedi promo video (that anybody could use / upload on their own accounts - esp. Big Tech ones, if they're so inclined) and I needed a solution to let people download files. NextCloud is perfect for the task - and something I had looked forward to installing for a looooong time.
I'll share more details soon, but so far I'm excited to finally use it.

You might have noticed I've been a little quiet on here since launching my Fedi promo video. What happened?
Well well well, the unexpected victim of my viral toot / video was... my beloved #GoToSocial account.
Approximately 12 hours after posting about my video - a toot that got 1200+ boosts - for some reason federation broke on this account. I was still posting messages and replying but getting zero interactions.
So yesterday evening, thanks to the amazing help of people on the GoToSocial Matrix help room, I was told to upgrade to the latest version of GoToSocial. And that fixed the problem, yay.

The past 24 hours have been incredible! Thank you for all the boosts to the post about my Fedi promo video (over a thousand!)
It looks like my self-hosted Ghost blog did well with the massive wave of traffic and didn't experience the "Mastodon hug of Death." THANK YOU Varnish cache for it! Total game changer. I could not recommend it more! (As someone who experienced the Mastodon hug of death TWICE before installing Varnish cache) 
So: my #Ghost blog survived. Ditto for my self-hosted #PeerTube (which is on a separate VPS - installed/managed via #YunoHost). The video so far has almost 5000 views - which is pretty good for PeerTube.

Since yesterday, I changed the visibility of the video, making it public. And my VPS is surviving, thanks to PeerTube's P2P and various instances mirroring the video (thank you fellow admins, I owe you big time!)
I'm just so grateful for all your nice words and support.
Later today I'll travel to Amsterdam, as I will be speaking at #PubConf2025 about the Fediverse YAY. I'm super honored for this opportunity and I look forward to reconnecting with many other Fediverse advocates who have become friends.
