@annathepiper Reworking goals feels so much like changing the goalposts. It’s not. It’s so not. Assessment time and debriefing projects is not passing judgement on self — it’s just us glamorizing some of our goals over others (like word count). New Month! New Goals! Writing is being done! Every word is closer to the celebration!

Interdisciplinary academics are often trying to balance the language and conventions of so many fields that our own writing voice can get subsumed. If you’re feeling disconnected from your #WritingGoals this year, it might be a good time to think about getting back in touch with your writing voice.
Happy NaNoWriMo, fellow 'wrimos!
Whether you're aiming for 50k words or something smaller, or being a NaNo Rebel, or doing reverse NaNo; however you are getting words on the page this month, I wish you all the best of luck!
Who would ever think I'd be hoping for more rejections
But I'm not complaining about the acceptances!
And with each rejection, I learn something about my writing and strengthen it.

After writing the novel #ParallelLines in #ObsidianMD, I said I'd never write another novel in #Obsidian. And yet -- here I am, having the time of my life writing my second novel in good old #Obsidian once again!
I'm adding the #BetterWordCount and #WritingGoals #plugins and using a smarter folder structure this time around. And I like very much keeping all notes, insights, ideas, and the author's journal all together in one app.
BTW - #ParallelLines will be released to readers on Nov 28th!
I want to find a way to work the word "mouthfeel" into technical documentation without it being too weird.
It's Monday, which means I have my history glimpse ready ... right?! Right?!
I wrote over 4k words in about a week for a short story that hasn't even been living in my head for as long as the novel I'm working on. But I wanted to finish it in time to offer as a reader magnet, so...maybe I just need deadlines to encourage me to draft my novel faster?

Overachieved on my writing goal for today with 1743 words written
Good morning. Started the day with a short walk. Now it's time to start writing. My new goal is to edit one page per day. Should be doable, we shall see.
What's everybody else working on today?
First two articles in the local paper hitting the print for March.
Making some headway with structuring the thesis, and also just got asked to co-author my first academic paper
The year's off to a good start. Hopefully it doesn't all unravel too soon
I keep thinking I should add
"not yet, but #WritingGoals" to that line :D
I wrote 11433 words last month and nearly doubled my target goal of 6200 (200 per day).
Using a spreadsheet to track my word count in addition to having a clear and reasonable goal every day has helped immensely. I could go a week or two without writing even 100 words due to not having any motivation.
This morning, I knocked out my writing goal - marking up 20+ pages of my novel-in-progress while the hammering continued (day 3 of home repairs).
I grabbed a shower and *could have* thought through the revision of the book I'm working on . . . Instead, I reimagined a novel I wrote and set aside ten years ago. I am looking forward to rewriting this old one, but it really needs to wait. Jotted down the details.

I’m not so foolish as to make writing plans for 2023, because for the last few years, every time I make even half a plan about my writing, real life comes along to slap me in the face. Including a global pandemic hitting in the same week as my last release, lol. Anyway, in 2023 I want to write something. That’s it. #writing #WritingGoals
