Today we went with a group on a hike along the #Neabsco Boardwalk. I told someone that it was my goal to learn how to see #TreeFrogs as some other photographers started showing them to us. I actually did really good and probably saw a 10 or 12 so maybe I am moving along my path of learning to recognize them.It was very cool to be able to pick them out. Usually I have fairly good eyes for wildlife, thanks Alaskan upbringing, so it’s cool to add another neon animal to my detector arsenal. USA VA

Terrible Invasive Story 🙁

I had a real treat the other day when a Green Tree Frog visited me in the hot tub. I used to see these almost every day, but no more. Spring used to bring a cacophony of frogs chirping, but no more.

The reason is "The Beast" aka the #Invasive #CubanTreeFrog which EATS OTHER TREE FROGS! They are huge and toad-like. I kill them when I find them, but the battle is already lost where I live in north #Florida.

As you can see from the #Map, these invaders are moving north and are now #Endemic in my area (red circle). 👎

It's hot & dry in #wsanecterritory. It feels early this year.... The ephemeral ponds have dried up, seeds are rattling in their pods. When the cool wet forest friends come seeking a moist spot in your flowerbeds it's time to be extra careful about fire. #Pacifictreefrog was perched on my stick fence when I came home from work.
