I have noticed something with my #tourettes #tics now that can fully relax and stop suppressing them.

I often do when stressed even alone, and causes me pain, so I have been #learning to relax.

I always have one of my arms up. I put one down, the other tics up, without fail.

My left hand is more intricate and detailed in its movements/tics when up, more gentle.

The right hand wants to fling about and be POWERFUL and POINT.

My mood influences which hand I tic with

I used to think #marijuana made my #tics related to #tourettes more frequent with motor tics.

I talk a lot less, and have much less powerful vocal tics, so it is a trade off when I go into public.

I'd rather look strange than say weird things.

I don't think they're more frequent.

I think I am more relaxed, and carefree, and feel good. So I let my guard down, and stop suppressing my tics, so it isn't that I tic more, I just care less when I do and let it happen.

I made a simple #video and all I did was cut out the #audio and replace it with the #music I was listening to while I played with my hands and they #dance away.

My #tics never end, but I can suppress them for a time. Music aligns them because #synethesia makes me feel sound, and plays with my tics.

If I just #relax they'll do this all day and it feels amazing. Almost like endlessly stretching.

I'm at #peace if you ever see me just #dancing away.

My life in public would be a lot easier if my #tics weren't so sensitive to loud and sudden sounds. If it's noisy or there are people making a ton of noise, I basically end up having a seizure and need to leave.

It's uncomfortable and I don't know what to do about it. It's caused by #synethesia which makes me feel sound across my entire body, and directly messes with my tics.

It's such a unique problem, my doctor has no idea what to do either

Earplugs for now

It turns out that #recording myself talking at a camera to get more comfortable with #livestreaming is turning into a bit of a #research project as well for my #tourettes #symptoms.

I am noticing #tics I have not before, mostly in my face because I am very aware of most of the tics in my body. I can see them.

I almost never look at my own face unless I have a reason to.

I am not bothered, but I do feel like the person they point to when they need an obvious example xD

PsyPost: TikTok tics study sheds light on recovery trends and ongoing mental health challenges. “During the COVID-19 pandemic, healthcare providers observed a sharp increase in adolescents experiencing functional tic-like behaviors—involuntary movements and sounds resembling Tourette Syndrome but arising from distinct causes. A study from Boston Children’s Hospital revealed that nearly […]

#Neurodivergent Fediverse. I have a question about some behaviors I have and I’m trying to figure out what’s the most likely contributor (not seeking diagnoses, but happy to hear thoughts).

I twitch my face quite a bite. Watching myself on video I’m surprised to find my nose and mouth move a lot. I also have a little echolalia (single word spoken at a particular pitch and speed—like a chirp), flaring my nostrils, lining up my fingers or fingernails across lines or large swatches of contrasting color with a glance of my eye (this used to be my tongue until someone made fun of me), blowing on my finger, whistling between my teeth, and tapping my teeth together. These are all sometimes combined in a string of actions that may be repeated until it feels right. What does this sound like? Do you do any of these things?
