Electric grids across the US don’t always have the capacity to carry all of the energy an intermittent power plant can produce, resulting in “stranded renewable energy.” Writing for InsideClimateNews.com, Arcelia Martin explains how some companies are paying low rates for it:

Today on the degoogling journey: How can I make the best out of a Pixel's camera on #GrapheneOS? 🤔

The default camera app doesn't begin to exploit all the nice things that the Pixel camera hardware can do, and I do want nice things. 😁

Installing the Google camera means having to install the Google gallery to open the pictures and more google crap, and I don't want to go to a sandbox profile every time I'd like to take a picture.

Thanks a million in advance!

How many of my fellow #tech workers are doing the same? Do you fear becoming obsolete? Or are you thinking like me, "If this crap *actually* succeeds in replacing me, I don't want to work in tech anymore anyway."

Like... feels like we'll be plenty busy just trying to stay alive in that situation. (Not in the Terminator sense, but in the #climate crisis sense.)

Shine on you crazy Diamond Quantum Magnetic Sensor.

We’re probably all familiar with the Hall Effect, at least to the extent that it can be used to make solid-state sensors for magnetic fields. It’s a cool bit of applied physics, but there are other ways to sense magnetic fields, including leveraging the weird world of #quantum #physics with this #diamond, #laser & #microwave open-source #sensor.
