How many ways we can actively participate in art and learning without needing to be experts.

Our educational systems and our commercial systems have often severed that ability to really connect with how accessible art is and how it fills our lives. And how personally enriching it is to linger within an image or an idea.

As people continue to turn to AI out of hype or ignorance, it is worth our while as creative people to think about these tools we use and help other people access them.

Help rebuild people's curiosity for the abundance of the world.

We get caught up in our frustrations and critiques because the modern internet has been designed to prompt us to do this.

It's also great to demonstrate how cool the alternatives are. How many ways we can create...

In a product and productivity obsessed society we often get disconnected from true frivolity.

I don't always want to talk with another person about my ideas but sometimes I need that *feeling* of knocking ideas around outside of myself. Tarot gives me this and I get to support artists.

I think many things can fill this role but I don't think people are as aware of those tools. If you use something (besides AI), what is your version of this?

When I'm in a bit of a writing slump I like to take the cards out, shuffle them and pull a few cards. I've also started adding it into my planner time as a way to prepare me to think about my week.

Often I'll linger on the art or the interpretation. Just, giving myself a chance to think about all of it.

I bring this up because I don't think the reasons that people use AI are inherently dumb...

The degree to which the deck was "right" isn't something I've tested scientifically and I don't think that's really useful. It has been "right" in the way it has helped me consider problems in a more simplified fashion.

Cards like the King of Wands have prompts about leadership and in the upright it offers the idea that this os an opportunity to be confident about taking that on.

It is intentionally vague because it applies broadly and that can be useful.

The format of tarot can be used for something more spiritual and I won't speak on that.

I started using tarot as a way to reduce anxiety during a time when I had a lot of decisions to make and was exhausted by the idea of choosing wrong. It gave me a way to engage with a physical object that has beautiful art and a guidebook for what the symbolism is associated with.

I liked how it took me out of my own head and let me wander in a semi meditative fashion.

Sometimes people mention using AI to help them organize their lives or get inspiration.

I started using tarot because a writing group I'm in uses tarot to determine writing sprint length and help with inspiration. What I've loved about tarot is that it is a way for artists to sell their art for something you can regularly interact with and deeply contemplate. I think it can be useful for teaching art appreciation and give tangible meaning to that idea.

Card of the Day: reversed 8 of Pentacles I was moved by Lane Smith's section on this card in 78 Acts of Liberation. Humans should not just survive, they should thrive. This is what we should strive for ourselves and everyone else. More in comments #tarot

Today I had my second live psy gym class. This was different than the other, as it was the monthly psychic panel. This meant that we all pulled out our tarot decks and took turns being in the hot seat and everyone pulled cards and offered insights. The person in the hot seat waited until the readers were finished before commenting to validate the readings or ask questions.

When it was my turn I was really astounded by how accurate and consistent the readings these people who I don't know at all gave me. All of them picked up on me being in the wilderness on a lifestyle vacation of sorts (I am unemployed and staying on a friend's ranch in the middle of nowhere ATM). All of them said I was to stay where I was, that being in the wilderness was good for me and what I needed in this moment.

I wasn't super jazzed to hear that, because I'm trying to move out of the desert asap. My lips are chapped, my skin is dry, my nails broke off and no amount of fancy conditioner is saving my hair from the dry and dusty air. The coyotes interrupt my beauty sleep playing Hee Haw and the fuck around gang. This place is trifling.

I said this to try and ask what they saw for me anywhere else... And they just all laughed like it was very funny and started reminiscing about when they stayed on a farm, or in whatever place that smelled like poop and felt awful in the moment but it was the best growth for them. So awesome, I guess I'm going to be in an uncomfortable growth spurt for now 🙃

When other people were in the hot seat I was noticing that often the cards I pulled were the same as what others in the panel were pulling. There are 78 cards in the standard tarot deck (some say rooted in kabbalah mysticism but that's controversial). So in pulling 2 cards, the odds that several of us would pull the same cards was relatively low. However that is exactly what was happening. The themes of all of the readings were very similar and validated by the people in the hot seat.

It was super interesting but went on almost 5 hours. That's too long, but thank goodness I'm unemployed. If you made it to the end of this and want to support my unemployed psychonaut adventures at Psy gym feel free to send me some sats! ⚡⚡⚡💖💖💖
