Magical Grrrl Betty<p>Reposting for <a href="https://indiepocalypse.social/tags/TransMusicMonday" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>TransMusicMonday</span></a></p><p>It's finally out!!!<br>"Something's Gotta Grow" is my second full length album as In The Womb Of The Universe.</p><p>I've been calling it my "she's gone mad album" (a reference to how Kate Bush described "The Dreaming") considering it's darker and more experimental overall than most of my previous catalog. It's interesting that it features some of the most accessible work I've ever done as well as some of the most challenging.</p><p>It's definitely the most diverse release I've ever done. The title track starts in 5/4, then goes to 3/4, and then back to 5/4, "Welcome To Hardscrabble" is a very "Richard D James album" era Aphex Twin inspired with it's breakbeat programming that has goes into a center section that almost resembles instrumental hip-hop, several songs are almost proggy in the way they have multiple distinct sections. There's also a Carl Sagan sample.</p><p>I''ve been using Indietronica as the main label. There's synths, but there's also guitar on every track, usually a lot of organic sounds (like strings, piano, harp, and melodica), and the majority of the drum programming is indebted to rock, golden era hip hop, and funk.</p><p>EDM it ain't. Blue Nagoon 🫐<p>I have a new song coming out Friday! It's a collaboration with German synth artist UAP who I'm sure many of you know (and if you don't you should!). We're very much on the same wavelength musically: synths, 80s rock, Ensoniq keyboards... and it all comes through on this synthrock power ballad.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/synthrock" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>synthrock</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/synthwave" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>synthwave</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/80s" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>80s</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/musodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>musodon</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/indiemusic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>indiemusic</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/retrowave" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>retrowave</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/newmusic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>newmusic</span></a></p>
