one of the most common questions asked in #succulent groups online is “does this flower mean my succulent is dying???”
a lot of people have heard of succulent “death blooms” so they see a flower and think “oh no, my plant’s time has come”. the reality is that only a minority of succulents exhibit “death bloom” behaviour, most will just flower repeatedly whenever they’re happy & healthy. it’s nice to be able to deliver good news to worried plant parents!
but today… i saw a real one. a beautiful agave in full death bloom :((( sad
Flowering Now: Epiphyllum 2
Another round of flowers is happening. They are so dramatic and photogenic.

Oh how good for the soul, early morning trip out to a nursery in #Phoenix, my favorite is Elgin Nursery. I too so many photos today after I asked questions about my not-happy hopseed bush which has transplant shock. I’ve been told just to cut back water and wait another 2-3 weeks. If needed, I would get a replacement. Meanwhile I spotted this unusual variety of snake plant and it came home with me! This afternoon or tomorrow I’ll drive out to Whitman near Wickenburg to get a few new giant pots at a more reasonable price than the $149 one and the $249 blue ceramic glazed ones I really want from this nursery. (The staff here told me to drive out to Pottery Barn!) He also told me my new plant is likely to bloom again soon with yellow flowers! And about how to harvest “babies” from it for new pots. This one he says can grow wider, sprawling, and tall! But he said make sure it’s got some shade. So arbor will be home, near the big pots of Jasmine.

First of all, can anybody please help identify* this #succulent? I tried asking Gemini. The AI keeps giving me the wrong plant names.
This plant has thin leaves. I'd say a bit less than 1mm thick.
Second, I should probably try to thin this one out, right? It's grown so quickly. But I really don't want to take it out of the pot and mess with the roots. I got #YellowThumbs. #Plants tend to die on me. Maybe I'll just cut away at it...
??
One of my coworkers gifted me a #succulent today. It is #smol but mighty.

Ok, so I know about #BloomScrolling and #Florespondence for posting blossoming plants, #Mosstodon for pictures of moss and #SavageGarden for carnivorous plants. But what's the punny hashtag for all the plants who rarely/never bloom (unless they are in their natural environment)? Where are all the fans of succulents, cacti, ficus trees and tropical plants posting their photos?
The weird and wonderful flowers of an echeveria succulent, now in bloom.
It is my beloved's birthday today and we took a needed adventure out of town to a neato place to have a fancy lunch at Sherman Gardens. I could have stayed in the greenhouse all day, but this fountain growing plants is the only pic I got because we just spent the time enjoying life. #ShermanGardens #garden #succulent #bromeliad #moss
