The Whirlpool Galaxy (M51) is a spiral galaxy located about 23 million light-years away in Canes Venatici. It spans approximately 60,000 light-years and features prominent spiral arms with active star formation. M51 is interacting with the smaller galaxy NGC 5195, creating stunning tidal features that enhance its visual appeal.
Last night we were treated to the Waxing Crescent Moon cozying up to the Pleiades star cluster just after sunset.
A low cloud was kind enough to pass in front of the moon when I took this photo, dimming its glow and revealing the line of craters while the unobscured stars were still shining brightly.

Today is the perfect day to see Mercury. It's just to the left of Venus, about three finger width on an outstreched arm. It becomes visible just as the two are about to disappear behind the horizon where the sun has set.
Which in Germany is RIGHT NOW!
The sheer immensity of the true sky is a sight to behold, and where better to behold it than Death Valley's very own Badwater Basin? A picture that gives the vibes of the best romanticist sci-fi: "Where We're Going".
I am really, really curious if the Seestar S50 holds true to its promises.
