"In the bowels of a 1.3 million-square-foot Providence mall, a group of friends made themselves at home. Their private living space—complete with furniture, fortified walls, and a door with a lock and key— went undetected for years. We were like a 'barnacle on a whale,' explains artist Michael Townsend of the secret apartment he and several collaborators created in the early 2000s. For the first time, the story of the eight artists who created and lived in the hidden 'unit' within the Providence Place mall is being told onscreen with the release of the documentary Secret Mall Apartment, which officially hits theaters this month following its SXSW debut last spring."

Architectural Digest · Inside ‘Secret Mall Apartment’: The True 4-Year Story of Domestic Life in a Shopping CenterBy Carly Olson

Where I feel these most is in my brachioradiales (anterior radial forearm, plural)—not, surprisingly, my quads. Halfway through, they're screaming and I want to stop. But then, miraculously, the urgent ache goes away! I'm not sure what the mechanism is there. But that muscle will help you immensely with pull-ups, dead hangs, general grip strength, etc. Video is 3x speed, and this is the last bit.

Did you know @cobalt , that the elderly have difficulty raising themselves?
"Help, I've Fallen, and I can't get up!"

A more senior lady I visited, had a 6" elevated toilet seat. It was like Stepping Up into a baby potty 😆
Lg muscles, knees & back, lose strength (hence EZ SLEEPER LIFT CHAIRS)

To come up from a squat position, with old knees (until replaced) is hard!

Ain't goin' back to a baby seat, NOPE!

Are core workouts a scam? Exercise expert Casey Johnston writes for her newsletter, She's A Beast, about why exercises that target our mid-section fundamentally misunderstand how the body works, why influencers persist in posting them, and what is actually helpful. "But squats seems so hard, and a plank seems so easy, you might be saying. And I say: Wiggling my fingers in front of my face is easier still than that, and I wish that made back pain go away. But am I here to delude myself about the payoffs of what I’m doing, or to actually get some benefit from the time I’m putting in?"

She's A Beast · The 'core workout' is a scam and it's time to stopThe core workout purveyors know what they are doing. Plus: fasted exercise is not better; culture is stuck; walk backwards up a hill and pause mysteriously every once in a while for the most effective cardio. This is Link Letter 149!

Landmine squats today. Not lifting as heavy as I used to, but my range of motion is still fantastic. As the coach says, any lower and I'd be leaving a stain.

Afterwards, I did box stepups, Cossack squats, and a bunch of stretches. Walking to and from the gym adds about 6km. Not nearly as fit as I was, but still not too shabby for my age. Feeling kinda wobbly now. Hoping I'll have enough left in the tank to write when I get home. #FitAfter50 #squats #WeightTraining
