“More than 14 million acres of federal public land in #Colorado could be eligible for sale if Congress passes the current version of the budget bill mandating the sale of a fraction of the nation’s public lands…[including] chunks of mountain, foothills and plains along the Front Range and the Western Slope.”

The Denver Post · These Colorado public lands could be eligible for sale under Republican budget billBy Elise Schmelzer

It's day two of the season at Coronet Peak and to be honest it's looking pretty dire. They've had no snow in the last seven days and only 20cm for the season so far. Compare that with Mount Hutt which has had 2.63 metres of snow. Metres!

If it wasn't for 100+ snow guns and some decent grooming, Coronet would be bald. Only the main Coronet Express and learner lifts are open. Off piste will be un-skiable.

Snow in May
goes away.
Snow in June
still too soon. 🎶

Warm 8-11C for our two skis on/near Beartooth Plateau, snow melting fast. Still good and firm tho, great spring slush. First was 3200-3250m below 3334m pass. Fog rolled in so had cut it short. Second by 3000m Island Lake again which is opening up. After that, finally found/hiked out to Quad Creek RAWS, a vital platform 👍🏽. Provides important high-elev. wind info during our OCT-APR strong storm season. Lots of snowmelt/warn next 3 days. #climate #skiing #hiking #montana #mountains #dogs #beartooth
